The thoughtful, contemplative approach suits Carson. That seems to be who he is. If he tried to be bombastic like Trump it’d feel fake (because it would BE fake).
Same thing applies in reverse - if Trump tried to be the thoughtful, contemplative type, it’d feel fake.
Moral of the story: Be who you are. People can spot a fake.

You’re right, on its face, it is low on the totem pole. But this is just Trump telling everyone who he is and who the other side is. To me, its so simple its brilliant. For people who are not as politically informed as you and I, this helps define Trump in an easy to understand way to the so called “low information” voters out there-—of BOTH parties.
I am Jewish - and reasonably observant - and I feel the same as Trump (and have for years). I not only wish people “Merry Christmas,” but if someone who doesn’t know that I’m Jewish does the same, I respond, “Thank you, and to you also.” IOW, I try to be polite to others who are being polite to me.
FYI, I enjoy saying it to those who I know to be big libs or Leftists - just to see if they react. I just love annoying those pricks.

Here is the problem with your anti-Trump comments: you’re not trying hard enough. You get your licks in but they don’t accomplish anything. You’re not getting any return on your time and energy.
For a very brief time I watched pro bull riding. [Then I saw a bad crack up and swore off forever.] My favorite commentator always had this to say about a bad ride: ‘You’ve got to give it your effort.’
Maybe if you’d just put more effort into undermining Trump’s support you could turn things around. Dig a little deeper and find some truly detrimental info. Post smarter, not harder.
Also, don’t forget feedback. Periodically ask people if your anti-Trump comments incline them more or less in his favor. After all, you don’t want to be unwittingly helping the other side.

Personally I will ALWAYS say Merry Christmas to every store clerk I deal with during the Holiday Season.
Also when they say “happy Holiday” to me i always make sure to ask them to which Holiday are they referring.

I’m not trying to “undermine Trump’s support” or indeed to “accomplish anything.” I have an opinion about Trump—I don’t trust him one bit, and don’t think he’s even remotely conservative (notwithstanding his strong position on a single issue)—and I’ve expressed that opinion. Others may have a different opinion. I really don’t care, doesn’t affect me one bit. And, frankly, doesn’t affect the election one bit either—elections are not decided here on FR, especially 6 months before the first primaries.
