Spoke like a true coward... Spoken like a true keyboard commando.
The train may run off the track, or run into another train, but it will not run into a station.
Do you make crap up all the time or only when you're on the internet? It's possible - probable even - that the SNCF (the French national railroad) would be able to cut power to the train or route it onto a siding, but if they didn't get wind in time there's no reason why a terrorist couldn't ram it into a terminal station like the Gare du Nord in Paris.
Also, the Thalys top speed is about 180, not 250.
Thalys is a railroad operator, not a type of train. Their trains don't normally operate above 180 but they're designed to operate up to 200 and could be pushed further. For someone who obviously doesn't know what he's talking about, you're pretty good at just throwing BS onto a page.
You, like the crew and most Frenchmen, prefer to run and hide and let people die.
Were you born on 9/11? The brave pilots decided to open the cockpit doors to try disarm the terrorists. In retrospect, dumb idea. Which is why modern safety protocol is to lock the cockpit doors and let the passengers and crew fend for themselves. This is no different.

Im not sure why you are calling FReepers idiots. If the Americans hadnt been there, no door would have stopped the terrorist. The American passengers ARE heroes. I'm certainly not criticizing what they did. But I'm talking about the job of the crew - that was to prevent the train from being commandeered. There's a huge difference between a terrorist shooting up one train car and one terrorist - or a team of terrorists - commandeering an entire high speed train with 500+ passengers.

Power should have been cut immediately and that doesn’t take the entire crew.

They are angry they did what they teach schoolkids to do in these situations?
They are all unarmed, exactly how are they going to protect the passengers? The bullets are going to go right through them into those behind them.
You cant protect anyone in a gun free zone if you arent right there while the person is reloading and youre not already dead and you can overpower her/him.

It seems to be demonstrated repeatedly that the three primary factors preventing horrendous terrorist attacks are: a) the mind-numbing stupidity of our enemies; b) the willingness of ordinary people to stand up and defend themselves; and, c) the willingness of some Muslims living in the West to rat out their violent co-religionists.
A vigorous defense by our governments-- American, French, British, etc. -- seems to have little to do with it.
