Democrats hope to prevent Iran deal 'no' vote

Democrats have picked up enough congressional support for the Iran nuclear deal that they are now hoping not merely to sustain any White House veto of a resolution rejecting the agreement but also to prevent the resolution from even reaching the president's desk.

All 54 Senate Republicans are expected to vote for a resolution in mid-September disapproving of the accord, but to clear a procedural hurdle so the chamber can move on the bill, they need six Democrats to join them.

So far, only two Democratic senators have said they will oppose the agreement: New York's Chuck Schumer and New Jersey's Bob Menendez. While enough senators remain undecided to reach 60 votes against -- only 23 of 44 have committed to backing the Iran deal so far -- the steady trickle of support is dwindling that pool by the day.

Seeing as this is soo important McConnall needs to invoke the nuclear option. Only 51 votes needed to pass. Surely this is more important than electing a Judge?

Dems: We want to stop the Republicans but avoid being tarred with a “Death to the Jews” brush after Iran nukes Tel Aviv, even though we believe in “Death to the Jews”. Hell, they’re as bad as negroes and you know what we are doing to the negroes with abortion. (chuckle)

Another reason to elect the “RIGHT” president as he/she will cancel this Chamberlinian nightmare agreement as a first order of business.

Schumer voted no knowing full well that a vote did not exist which could override the inevitable presidential veto.

IMHO

McConnell intends to roll over and play dead on this as usual. And, the GOPe can’t comprehend Trump’s popularity.

Isn’t that “procedural hazard” the non-constitutional “filibuster rule”?

Surely, GOP Senators know that the “Iran Deal” is important enough to — as Harry Reid said — “go nuclear” and therefore WITHDRAW the “filibuster rule”!

But if Senator McConnell should value preserving the Senate’s “rules” MORE HIGHLY than he values America’s safety, then I hope he will insist that the Dems conduct a REAL “filibuster”. Let the Democrats continue talking for 2 days or 2 weeks or 2 months while Patriots march outside the Capital carrying signs that identify those Dem quislings by name.

Eventually the Dems will crack and the vote against the Iran Deal will occur.

All it would take is a Senate Leader strong enough to take some heat from Dems and from the media — but I repeat myself...

With this deal looking as if it is going to go into effect, this leaves Israel backed into a corner with one option. That is to attack and destroy all of the nuclear sites in Iran. I’m sure they’ll do a good job and they won’t have to resort to a more drastic measure.

Probably wanted to have a picture op with Bouncy and husband who made trip to Cuba (not that that’s a reason for an change in relationships w/Cuba).

Just curious as to who (whom?) will be among the first to visit Iran?

The GOPee already threw in the towel when they made Corker do whatever he did. This is all pure dramatic theater. What Ditch does best.

Why do Dems get a pass on this. I’m pretty darn sure that Democrats aren’t thrilled at the propest of becoming crispy critters either. Unless they’re up for reelection, these Dem Senators all for a third world war.

If it’s not a treaty, the constitutional requirements defer to senate rules. So invoke the nuclear option to pass the resolution opposing the so called “agreement”, the when vetoed the Deamons will have to take a stand on overturning the veto. Force their hands McCookoo!
