Trump widens lead over U.S. Republican presidential field: Reuters poll (Now 32% pulling away)

Republican Donald Trump is pulling away from the pack in the race for the party's U.S. presidential nomination, widening his lead over his closest rivals in the past week, a Reuters/Ipsos poll showed on Friday.

Republican voters show no signs they are growing weary of the brash real estate mogul, who has dominated political headlines and the 17-strong Republican presidential field with his tough talk about immigration and insults directed at his political rivals. The candidates are vying to be nominated to represent their party in the November 2016 general election.

Nearly 32 percent of Republicans surveyed online said they backed Trump, up from 24 percent a week earlier, the opinion poll found. Trump had nearly double the support of his closest competitor, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, who got 16 percent. Retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson was third at 8 percent.

Even when Trump was pitted directly in the poll against just his top two competitors, 44 percent backed him. Bush won about 29 percent of respondents, and Carson 25 percent.

"He's not taking any guff from anybody," Dewey Stedman, 70, a Republican from East Wenatchee, Washington, said of the publicity-loving billionaire. "If you don't have something in your brains, you're not going to have billions of dollars."

Trump said if he’s going down, he’s going to make sure Jeb! goes down with him.

Good enough for now.

My advice to Trump for a new negative Jebbie ad is just string together all the insane incoherent stuff he has said in a 30 second or 60 second sound bite. It will speak for itself. No interpretation necessary. LOL!

They insist they are powerless with their dual majorities.

The truth is, they are liberals and have no intention of pushing back against the things with which they agree. They have to say they care, but that’s it.

He’s using the truth as a weapon.

The 2 major issues are illegal-immigration and Jobs. They related. He seems to be the only one one who gets it.

By the end of the year, all but the brain dead will get it.

“Trump is costing Bush a lot of supporters.”

I really don’t think their are very many Trump supporters who would consider moving over to the Bush camp.

For me its Trump then Cruz and then none of the above.

I would not be surprised to see Jeb switch to the democrat party, with the democrat party support, after Hillary is out of the picture. He wouldn’t be the first Florida governor to switch sides after losing to the republican.

But I’m still not sure Trump will make it. I’ve been disappointed way too many times in the past.

I just pray we are not being duped here. He has great things to say, but just not sure how much to trust him.

They’re waiting for Trump to get settled in and down, then they start the grinders to grind him down.

Trump needs to keep bulldozing into new territory. Knocking down PC pillar after pillar.

I am sorry but the “fix” is in.

The way the GOPe structured the primary Jeb will be the nominee even at 16% of the vote.

It doesn’t matter what we, the voters want.

The time has come to shake the foundations of the status quo, even tear it down.

The Republican Party as configured serves none but it's own self.

I decline to support them or the establishment which is comprised of parasitical non productive hangers on.

I am not alone, and if they manage to undermine this peaceful revolt, the reckoning will not be so benign as they might desire.

A little heartbreaking. Who are these 16 percent made up of?

I cant think of a single reason to vote for him.

Cruz or Trump.

Carson as VP to attract some voters we dont usually get? I dont think he is presidential material because his inability to answer pretty easy questions about government and foreign countries is a red flag.
As VP, he could catch up to speed.

Those are the only three worth much out of the 17.
