Trump: I wanted Bush impeached (2008)
CNN ^ | October 15th, 2008 | Alexander Mooney

Posted on 08/25/2015 10:21:05 AM PDT by justlittleoleme

Business mogul Donald Trump told CNN Wednesday House Speaker Nancy Pelosi should have sought to impeach President Bush when she had the chance.

In an interview with CNN's Wolf Blitzer, Trump said the president and his administration deliberately lied about the Iraq war, and congressional Democrats missed an opportunity to impeach him when the party took control of Congress in 2006.

"I was surprised that she didn't do more in terms of Bush and going after Bush," Trump said. "It was almost - it just seemed like she was going to really look to impeach Bush and get him out of office, which personally I think would have been a wonderful thing."

Pressed why he feels Bush deserved the punishment faced by only two other commanders-in-chief, Trump said the president misled the country in the run-up to the Iraq war, and that his actions were considerably more objectionable than those which led to the impeachment of former President Bill Clinton.

"He lied. He got us into the war with lies," Trump said. And I mean - look at the trouble Bill Clinton got into with something that was totally unimportant. And they tried to impeach him, which was nonsense. And yet Bush got us into this horrible war with lies, by lying, by saying they had weapons of mass destruction, by saying all sorts of things that turned out not to be true."

Yes, thank you. The Bush visits to the Obama White House need full disclosure.

I have always thought it was a Bush/Obama handshake to keep Palin out of the Executive Branch for Jeb16, and I’m 99 percent sure my research is correct.

More of Trump in all his astounding brilliance.

Don’t you understand he was saying that to give cause to the GOP to better itself? Oh wait.. it was because he’s a businessman “wanting to get things done.”

“Orwellian doublethink “

Do you have any idea what that phrase means? Your comment was incoherent.

Tapping Ted Kennedy to write his education bill. Too big to fail bailouts. Medicare expansion. Tried to build two nations but failed miserably.

Excellent. I recall being around FR when Bush was pushing for NASA (Islam?) funding and Amnesty during Iraq that seemed even more insane.

I’ll save your comment, because it’s a classic example of Trumpette spin. Good stuff!

LOL I was complimenting you. You hit the nail on the head on the “doublemindedness” the Bush WMD problem created in the minds of well-meaning conservatives.

Yes, very much aware George Orwell coined the term doublethink in “1984”:

Hey, I’m not 100 percent for Mr. Trump, let’s just say I completely concur with what Sarah Palin said about him last night on OAN.

"Did he lie about WMD in Iraq?"

No. Not only that, WMDs were never the sole reason for going into Iraq. That became the story after the fact.

What did Trump the Beloved have to say about the fact the senior dems in the Senate were presenting the strongest case for war in Iraq back in 2002 and 2003?

Where’s Lord Donald’s criticism of the unwarranted intervention in Libya, which has resulted in the deaths of thousands and the gateway for ISIS’ establishment if a strong base there?

Where’s the outcry from Trump about Hillary’s support of the Muslim Brotherhood’s rise to power in Egypt?

Oh wait.. Lord Donald is prone only to expressing SELECTIVE outrage.

Not 100% in support of Trump? Ah, but your pro-Trump spin is masterful.

People need to remember, George Bush: “I had to destroy capitalism to save it”. The Bushes are not conservatives, never were, so let’s stop pretending our guys are some how better when in reality they are just as bad!

Bush didn't lie about anything!

That's a straw man argument the left uses to disparage Bush.

The best thing Bush did in regards to the war, was do what 90%+ of the American people wanted him to do, which was to start kicking terrorists asses.

The worst thing Bush did in regards to the war, was to stop with Iraq and Afghanistan, when he should have wiped out Iraq, Afghanistan, Iran and North Korea! And to show to much restraint when it came to fighting the war. Whole towns should have been made into glass parking lots in all those countries before we even thought of putting an boots on the ground. And the whole idea of “rebuilding” those hell holes was doomed to failure.

The level of Uniparty/GOPe douche has come up to the point of high treason.

Trump is a the Rove/Uniparty’s worse nightmare. Worse than the threat of a McCain/Kerry bipartisan ticket in 2004. Worse than the threat of a McCain/Lieberman ticket for Rove/GOPe in 2008.

Trump is a Bipartisan ticket unto himself.

So if Trump is elected president and Mexico doesn't pay for the wall then should Congress impeach him for lying?
