"We're not going to take it anymore."
Vanity

Posted on 08/27/2015 11:53:52 AM PDT by HamiltonJay

I have to say, after watching 2 full rally speeches from Mr. Trump, I have to say this simply...

While ideologically he certainly is not as conservative as many would like, unless something drastically changes, this election is his to lose and its not hard to see why.

He is the only person taking on the press and calling out the horrific stupidity of the political class for all the crap that has been going on for decades without restraint.

Lots of time to go in this cycle, but no flub, or gotcha press nonsense is going to take him out, the RNC and GOPe have no shot of taking him out.

That could be for 2 reasons....

1) some people think Trump is a plant to help Hillary win... and I honestly don’t think so, after seeing him actually speak he does not come across as someone playing a part, and that I think is a huge part of why he is connecting.

or

2) Hillary knows she is trouble enough already and will lose any direct confrontation with Trump... Jeb on the other hand is a weak candidate who plays the same tired game all politicians do so she knows she can trip him up with just a little feigned outrage.

So it is no longer the goal to elect the most conservative candidate.

We now should elect the loudest buffoon even if he is a closet democrat who supported tax hikes, homosexual rights, voted for John Kerry and played footsie with the Clintons just a few years ago.

I miss the old days so much when we supported Ted Cruz, true conservatism and we criticized the Clintons and their friends.

this election is his to lose

I tend to think it is very early to believe no changes will happen.

Don’t misunderstand me. In general terms, FDR knew what he wanted. But specifics about how to end the depression? He had no clue. He just threw as much against the wall as he could to see what would stick. He was great at what counted, which was reassurance and motivation.

And the DOJ should be charged with protecting constitutional rights

I believe all appointed officials are already charged with, "To support and defend the Constitution of the United States......"

We need a DOJ which brings charges against those same officials when they violate that oath.

I am not sure what you are implying here, I offered up my observations about the guy. I never said I supported Trump, I said from what I have seen so far, short of a major shift in the political landscape it is clear he is connecting and the race is his to lose at this point.

I never advocated anyone vote for anyone, I stated what I see, and that is simply put, Trump is connecting and its easy to see why and how. He is going to draw votes across the political spectrum.

There is currently no one in the field of candidates on either side of the isle that I feel is capable of competing with Trump at this moment, that doesn’t mean he’s the guy I want to win, but I do feel short of some major change in the landscape the race is his to lose.

Way too early. Way, way, way too early for predictions like this. Trump has plenty of time to implode by saying a bunch of stupid stuff, or his act could get old and the media might stop giving him 100 times the airtime of any of his opponents, some scandal could come to light, etc.

The whole “were angry and not going to take it anymore” thing probably isn’t going to sustain him the whole way through the primary. Eventually it is going to come down to him and one or two others and that’s when we’ll see if he even has a legit shot at the nomination.

He may be peaking too early, or he may be building enough momentum that he can’t be stopped. Personally I don’t believe he will be the nominee. If he is, I will vote for him in the general election - but I think he’d get trounced. Who knows, maybe that would even be worthwhile to play out. The really anti establishment folks will have got their candidate and we will see how it works. With Trump though, I really don’t think things are going to end well. Just like there are a lot of people here who say they won’t vote for Rubio, Christie, etc, because they are too establishment, there are lots of “moderate” Republican and true ideological conservative that won’t vote for Trump because he is neither moderate or an actual conservative. And Trump is most certainly NOT going to win Hispanics, Blacks, etc. Those claims of his are absolutely laughable.

But I am never going to sit out, take my ball and go home, etc. If Trump wins the GOP nomination, he has my support and vote in the general election. I may not like him much, but I will always vote against the Democrat.

Obviously its politics, changes can happen, but I can’t imagine what they will be that is going to change it in a meaningful way. Obviously it could, but Biden in HIllary out won’t change anything.

Watching the Trump speeches there is clearly something going on here, that is unprecidented, at least in modern electoral history. Last election we were going through flavors of the month with folks disgruntled with the GOPe, that’s not happening here, Trump is connecting and he’s connecting with a simple message, and he has the force of will and personality as well that no one else on the GOP side of the isle, or frankly anyone else in the race on either side of the isle has.

Ideologically I love Cruz, but looking at what is going on with the race, I think its clear to see that what Trump is doing is working, and its likely going to keep working. Could he eventually screw up bad enough to undercut his support? Perhaps, but as long as he’s the only guy taking it to the political class and the press for their stupidity I just don’t see anyone breaking out.

Time will tell, but I admit I was dubious of Trump to begin with, but after seeing him at 2 rally speeches now I can see exactly why he is connecting and why his support is broadening and likely will continue to do so.

We will see, but I don’t see it the same. I admit I tended to write off Trump and ideologically he is not my guy, but after watching him on the stump its clear to see why he is connecting and growing and the others are not.

Last cycle we had the flavor of the month as folks who didn’t want the GOPe kept locking in on one not ready for prime time candidate to another, and the GOPe guy just rode it out... that’s not happening this time... there is truly something unique and different going on here compared to last time around.

It is clear to see why he is connecting and why his support is growing across the political spectrum by watching him. I admit, I wrote him off early as just a self promoter, but after actually seeing him on the stump so to speak, there is no denying he’s got legs, and they are bigger and broader than anyone gave him credit for.

Could he screw up? Sure.. but he’s going to have to be the one to screw up... I don’t see any of the other candidates or the press being able to shoot him down... No other politician can take him on and win, and so far Trump has beat the press every time they have decided to try to.

Time will tell, but there is something there and its happening in spite of all the attempts by the powers that be to prevent it.

“I have a hard time believing he’ll win because the establishment always wins.
Even Ronald Reagan being the exception took him 3 tries. “

Ronald Reagan wasn’t a junkyard dog, Trump is! Trump is a Political Patton, and it’s time for a real war for our political soul. He will leave Hilary’s merkin hanging on a fence somewhere.

Trump is the only one that is not money hungry

Trump is the only one that is not owned by rich donors

This is why Trump is the only one making building a wall and deporting illegals a top priority. Immigration is the most important issue. But the others running were ignoring illegal immigration or at least not making it a top priority. even now the others running are even saying the word deport nor WALL.

what could be more conservative than saving America and freedom from the invasion of anti-conservative (socialist/leftist) immigrants? And you all still support politicians that have not made the wall, deporting illegals etc the top priority. And you bash us as being paid by Trump :ridiculous. Trump is at 40% in some polls

All politicians are owned by rich donors and so are corrupt.

Is it any wonder since politicians are government agents. Government is the problem and the media is the problem

Politicians ,government and the media have put us Americans in this hole we are in. I don’t think anyone on this forum can deny that simple fact.

Trump is the solution to Saving America

“Right now he has to do what it takes to win the nomination. IMHO! “

Exactly, right now being too specific would be detrimental. And did you notice that despite the fact that he is essentially self-funding his run, that his campaign staff numbers about 30, whereas Hitlary (and probably all of the RINOs as well) has a paid staff of 35? Sure he can hire more people, probably more easily than any of the rest can, but he’s treating his campaign like a business deal, trying to get true value for what he spends. Could that possibly be how he’d run the government? All the “free media” doesn’t hurt either. He has them all by the balls!

Last time, Romney had the built-in Mormon support which propped up his numbers with a solid base and kept him as the marginal frontrunner. The GOPe used that to tell the rubes and noobs among the primary voters that he was the inevitable chosen one, which coupled with his big money was just enough to get him over the hump.

It has no parallel this time, since Jeb has absolutely no built-in base of support besides the donors, unless the GOPe can get a bunch of illegals registered to vote in the primary. He doesn’t have McCain’s military record either. He has absolutely nothing special to set him apart from the other candidates except a familial relation to two past presidents whose presidencies both went down in political flames.

Trump’s speech in Iowa this week was a masterpiece of political theater. His oratorical style is as natural and unscripted as it is carefully measured and thought out. He might be shooting from the hip but he has the training of a master marksman to back it up. He may be a non-politician but he’s also a natural politician. He’s doing what all the other guys are trying to do but doing it a lot better.

So you’re hoping that we loose yet another election I take it. If you really think ANY of the rest of them have any chance at all, show us all how they make it through the primary and beat HItlary ( or any of the other RATs for that matter).

When you’ve had a president like Obama with no regard for the law or the Constitution and who has by all devious and otherwise foul means possible turned this country as hard Left as he can get it, it is going to take someone equally as bold and not politically correct to swing the country back the other way. The spineless GOP candidates for the most part (Cruz is the ONLY exception and I think he may even be too “polite”) have no chance of reversing what Obama has done. Trump will stomp in and break things .... Leftist things. He won’t be perfect, but I know he’ll take off the gloves and I know he won’t back down & I know other world leaders won’t be laughing at him as they do at powder puff Obama (they’ll be worried about what Trump will do ‘cause he’s got ideas they won’t like) and I know he’ll piss the Left off majorly. He’ll probably run the country like a business, too. I also know he’ll respect the military rather than hate it and I have no doubt he loves America rather than wanting to see it destroyed. At this point in the campaign, its good enough for me.

For the younger FReepers, those are the lyrics from The Who song, "We're Not Gonna Take It." Watch the movie Tommy. Great flick, good cast.

My favorite Who song is "Won't Get Fooled Again."
