An 80-year-old Venezuelan woman died, possibly from trampling, in a scrum outside a state supermarket selling subsidized goods, the opposition and media said on Friday. The melee at the store in Sabaneta, the birthplace of former Venezuelan leader Hugo Chavez, was the latest such incident in the South American nation where economic hardship and food shortages are creating long queues and scuffles.

"They say that every society is only three meals away from revolution. Deprive a culture of food for three meals, and you'll have an anarchy. And it's true, isn't it? You haven't eaten for a couple of days, and you've turned into a barbarian."

British Sci Fi comedy series Red Dwarf Series III, Episode 2 said by the character Rimmer, which was first broadcast in the UK around 1988.

This is what I call a 'truism' quotable words so true that the source itself may or may not even realize how powerfully true they are. Especially sources that one would consider unconventional. That's the trouble with truth it seems to come out in the strangest ways, places, and people.

>> I don’t have enough food stocked for the length of time these poor folks will be without.<<

Even if you are Super-Prepper you probably don’t have enough food for the length of time these people will be IN LINE.

This 80 year old will not be out there when SHTF!!!

I can hold my own better than most 50 year old women, but nobody can stop a 250 pound 20 year old when they are ready to go for it!

Carrying in a crowd like that is NOT an option!
