No. None of them are going to resolve this issue. Our opponents are not practical, pragmatic people who are seeking a solution we disagree with.

They are Jacobins, they are rabid ideologues who want to do to this country and to law what they routinely do to each other.

There is no compromise you can find that will stop them. No sensible solution that will mollify them. No halfway measure that will convince them this far and no farther.

Don't even look for a reasonable solution, because it doesn't exist. Steel yourself to say "no", to stare them down and draw a line in the sand.

The judge thinks that he knows more than God, some day he'll find out that he's wrong.

With all due respect to freepers who are marshals, I suspect that we’d get blank looks from these U.S. Marshals if they were asked what personal protections Section 1 of the 14th Amendment of the Constitution that they swore to protect and defend provides.

14th Amendment, Section 1: All persons born or naturalized in the United States, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof, are citizens of the United States and of the State wherein they reside. No State shall make or enforce any law which shall abridge the privileges or immunities of citizens of the United States [emphasis added]; nor shall any State deprive any person of life, liberty, or property, without due process of law; nor deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws.

I just read something really interesting.

The couple’s attorney had asked that she be financially destroyed through excessive punative fines.

Instead she’s going to jail. But NOT being fined.

Am I wrong here, but given those two possible outcomes (or a third where the Judge did both) isn’t that actually to her benefit? At least in the short term?

So you want a Kentucky sheriff to go to war with the United States of America and the Commonwealth of Kentucky?

Did the Commonwealth of Kentucky give authority to the Feds to make laws concerning marriage in the State of Kentucky??? If not, the Commonwealth needs to side with the Sheriff who should side with the lady in jail and defend the laws of the State...

The last thing the legislature wants to do is get in the middle of this. It's a no-win. If they impeach her they've caved to the left. If they don't impeach her, it's still between her and the federal judge.

The legislature can stop all state agencies from issuing marriage certificates. I believe that is what the Oklahoma legislature did when they saw which way the homosexual sh*t was blowing.

Interesting. The judge can jail her but has no power over what her office does or does not do. Who will blink first? The judge, the clerk or the legislature?

Maybe we should remember too that Abortion is also legal, but many doctors will not perform them..... Birth control is legal, but employers with moral objections to certain forms of contraception are exempt from paying for this coverage (instead, its picked up by the insurance company)...

I don’t see how this woman, right or wrong, is any different.

Isn't this exactly what the Supreme Court and the Obama administration is doing? Haven't their actions already opened the Pandora's box?

This is a matter of civic equality: if the elites are free to beak the law then so are the rest of us.

If there’s one mistake which is common to almost everyone in politics today, it’s assuming that giving power to the government will never result in that power being used in a way they do not like, even though it always does, every single time.

 

Just WHO gave power to the government? Nobody gave anything to anyone in this case. It was the SCOTUS who TOOK power illegally and unconstitutionally and usurped the Freedom of Religion.

Take your "She deserved it" smugness and shove it up your (obama).
