You fail to realize that we are in a war here in the United States. It’s not a shooting war, yet. But it’s time to choose sides. Like I said, you either stand for something or you don’t.

I have plenty of conservative friends and family. I won’t be lonely.

What seems idiotic to me is sticking your neck out for someone who helped vote in the very people who are destroying the future of your children and grandchildren.

I have seen here on FR though that as long as you call yourself a Christian nothing else you do or don’t do matters. You are one of the herd and are given a pass on just about anything.

So, “contempt” is a crime with without statute and an open-ended sentence?

The battle is joined. Ms. Davis is heroic in defense of religious liberty.

Agreed. But I hope she's not harboring any illusions that she'll change the minds of that deep thinker (when she's awake) who formerly ran the American Communist Lawyers' Union..or any of the other Maoists on SCOTUS.

Federal power will be shown to be absolute once more.

Why a professing born-again Christian would align with the open Party of Evil defies credulity.

It's mostly family tradition and lack of knowledge.

You sound ignorant of the history of that situation, all right.

A little charity until your ignorance is alleviated would be becoming.

It just so happens that this Democrat is the only one standing tall here. That is how God confounds the wise like you. When He moves, it most glaringly ain’t of man and that’s how you see things like Rahab the prostitute in the faith hall of fame.

For a Christian you sure are free and easy with the insults aren’t you? Phony.

Calling someone ignorant is a statement of fact.

If you want to take it as an evaluation of person, go right ahead, but the real problem is how Christ looks at it, not me.

Besides you are free and easy with the judgments, so now you know how it feels (assuming I’m wrong, which I don’t concede).

Judging is part of life. We make judgments every day. Making judgments isn’t the problem here. Lack of judgment seems to be though. There is nothing wrong with judging. In fact, I think there needs to be a whole lot more of it.

Another problem seems to be posters that cannot debate an issue without using derogatory statements that attack another Freeper. Why do you have to make it personal? Shame on you.

Yes, it is part of life, and I judge you ignorant that you deem having registered as a Democrat, anywhere, under any circumstances, as making it impossible with integrity to take the stand that the clerk in fact DID take.

Again Exhibit A: Rahab the prostitute.

"You fail to realize that we're in a war in the U.S."

Well, after being 17 years a freeper and 20 years a conservative elected official in my home state of Illinois, plus the co-founder of several conservative organizations in my community and county, I guess I've just been sleeping and have no idea there's an ideological war going on (slapping my cheek!)

This little plain Jane Democrat clerk (who may be VERY conservative like many southern Dems are) is standing up for her Christian faith at considerable social and economic peril to herself and her family now and in the future...and she is certainly worthy of sympathy instead of the truly ugly aspersions you cast upon her.

There used to be a thing called Blue Dog Democrat.

It’s possible in the hinterlands they are still hanging on to bits and pieces of this. It doesn’t make much sense anymore because now the Republicans are even to the left of that quite frequently, but context really needs to be examined before leveling a railing judgment at the woman... especially one who seems to be of the very few doing the Right Thing.

But because she is doing it as a Blue Dog this makes her judgment-worthy.

Yup, I think we got ourselves a TROLL here.

Who knows? People do change. Maybe with all that’s been happening she suddenly realized how crazy and wrong it all is. Remember Saul?

Paul’s conversion and zeal. Peter heals Eneas and raises up Tabitha to life.

[1] And Saul, as yet breathing out threatenings and slaughter against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest, [2] And asked of him letters to Damascus, to the synagogues: that if he found any men and women of this way, he might bring them bound to Jerusalem. [3] And as he went on his journey, it came to pass that he drew nigh to Damascus; and suddenly a light from heaven shined round about him. [4] And falling on the ground, he heard a voice saying to him: Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me? [5] Who said: Who art thou, Lord? And he: I am Jesus whom thou persecutest. It is hard for thee to kick against the goad.

[6] And he trembling and astonished, said: Lord, what wilt thou have me to do? [7] And the Lord said to him: Arise, and go into the city, and there it shall be told thee what thou must do. Now the men who went in company with him, stood amazed, hearing indeed a voice, but seeing no man. [8] And Saul arose from the ground; and when his eyes were opened, he saw nothing. But they leading him by the hands, brought him to Damascus. [9] And he was there three days, without sight, and he did neither eat nor drink. [10] Now there was a certain disciple at Damascus, named Ananias. And the Lord said to him in a vision: Ananias. And he said: Behold I am here, Lord.

[11] And the Lord said to him: Arise, and go into the street that is called Stait, and seek in the house of Judas, one named Saul of Tarsus. For behold he prayeth. [12] (And he saw a man named Ananias coming in, and putting his hands upon him, that he might receive his sight.) [13] But Ananias answered: Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints in Jerusalem. [14] And here he hath authority from the chief priests to bind all that invoke thy name. [15] And the Lord said to him: Go thy way; for this man is to me a vessel of election, to carry my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel.

[16] For I will shew him how great things he must suffer for my name’ s sake. [17] And Ananias went his way, and entered into the house. And laying his hands upon him, he said: Brother Saul, the Lord Jesus hath sent me, he that appeared to thee in the way as thou camest; that thou mayest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Ghost. [18] And immediately there fell from his eyes as it were scales, and he received his sight; and rising up, he was baptized. [19] And when he had taken meat, he was strengthened. And he was with the disciples that were at Damascus, for some days. [20] And immediately he preached Jesus in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

[21] And all that heard him, were astonished, and said: Is not this he who persecuted in Jerusalem those that called upon this name: and came hither for that intent, that he might carry them bound to the chief priests? [22] But Saul increased much more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt at Damascus, affirming that this is the Christ. [23] And when many days were passed, the Jews consulted together to kill him. [24] But their laying in wait was made known to Saul. And they watched the gates also day and night, that they might kill him. [25] But the disciples taking him in the night, conveyed him away by the wall, letting him down in a basket.

[26] And when he was come into Jerusalem, he essayed to join himself to the disciples; and they all were afraid of him, not believing that he was a disciple. [27] But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and told them how he had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken to him; and how in Damascus he had dealt confidently in the name of Jesus. [28] And he was with them coming in and going out in Jerusalem, and dealing confidently in the name of the Lord. [29] He spoke also to the Gentiles, and disputed with the Greeks; but they sought to kill him. [30] Which when the brethren had known, they brought him down to Caesarea, and sent him away to Tarsus.

Everyone has a red-line they think they won’t cross. We will all be confronted, sooner or later, with the decision to eat our words or pay the price.

We don’t all draw the line in the same place, but the enemy will not quit until he finds yours and makes you cross it. Or makes you pay.

She found her red-line and to her credit she is standing firm. I hope she doesn’t lose courage; it would be easy to do when you’re faced with being bankrupted by the process. I would like to think that people will stand with her, but my experience is that you can’t count on it. When you are faced with your red-line and your career, or your children, or your life is on the line, you often find yourself very alone. At least in visible earthly terms.

So obviously you don’t put your hope or faith in humans, only God.

We should not kid ourselves. Once this immoral order is absorbed, there will be another even more immoral. Having accepted this breach it will be just that much harder to refuse the next one. This will not stop and it will only get worse.

Does anyone remember Judge Greer’s order to murder Terry Schiavo?

No one pushed back and she was starved to death in front of people sworn to protect her.
