The Kentucky clerk has gained national-wide attention for her refusal to issue gay couples a marriage license in spite of the Supreme Court's landmark ruling in June that same-sex couples have the right to marry.

Davis, who has lived in Rowan County all her life, has repeatedly cited "God's authority" as her reason for defying the federal courts and denying the marriage licenses.

[NELSON111: “Serial divorce is serial adultery.”

People who do that are EXACTLY what Jesus was referring to when He said: “The Pharisee, standing by himself, prayed thus: ‘God, I thank you that I am not like other men, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even like this tax collector+ - 18:11.

So...you’re a pharisee.]

Pot, meet kettle.

One needs to read “Grace Abounding to the Chief of Sinners” by John Bunyon.

He was not the paradigm of holiness in his early life. But after his conversion and going to jail for daring to (GASP) PREACH without a government license, WOW!

what are you talking about? She has to have been a believer all her life? I just told you she got saved 4 years ago. How do you know she hasn’t taken a stand against her sin? What DO you know about her?? My point is you’ve gone after her the entire thread living under the assumption she’s an unrepentant sinner and I’m asking you....where are you getting that from????

This is what you said...”She’s taking a stand against sin? When is she going to take a stand against her own sin?”

Why would you say that? Why would you assume she hasn’t?

***Irrelevant if prior to her sincere acceptance of Christ***

True.

Isaiah 1:18 King James Version (KJV)

18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the Lord: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

I do. And it all depends on if you has come to Christ AFTER all of these things...or if she's a typical American Christian who wants to judge the sins of others yet fails to look at the log in her own eye. That's why when I preach on this issue I spend much more time condemning HER sin than the gay couples. Why? More bang for my buck. Why preach so I can get amens form the likes of her who are living in their own unrepentant sin.

She sounds like a typical Christian of this age and has probably sourrounded herself with the same...those who violate 1 Cor 5: 9-11. They are quick to judge the sins of those who are unbelievers...but revel in the sins of the so-called saints.

"If." "Sounds like." "Probably." That's right...you do not know her heart. You can only guess. And speaking of people who are quick to judge, what are YOU doing?

No. It's a biological view. No need for me to apologize; I have simply told you the truth.

I married my second wife after having a vasectomy.

You intentionally damaged your ability to procreate; you violated your own bodily integrity. I pass no moral judgment on whether that's a right or wrong thing. I simply make an objective statement of what is. And it is irrelevant. If your damaged bodily integrity were restored, you would be able to procreate. I reiterate: The capacity to procreate may be diminished (even to zero) in certain men and women; age, illness, injury and defect combine to have this effect. Regardless, procreation is at the center of male-female sexual union. A healthy man and a healthy woman can procreate. The inability of two men to procreate with each other, or of two women to procreate with each other has NOTHING to do with their bodily integrity. It is against their nature to be able to procreate. I reiterate: There is no physical act two males can do with their bodies that will produce a baby. There no physical act two females can do with their bodies that will produce a baby. That is simple biology.

Civil marriage can be about all kinds of issues

People may do many things for bad reasons; that does not alter the nature of the thing they are doing. Marriage is fundamentally about procreation. It exists for the purpose of providing an optimal environment for raising children.

One doesn’t have to be married to procreate.

People do many things that are not optimal. This is a problem. Pretending that they are doing things optimally when they are not is stupid.

putting her religious views

Question begging is a logical fallacy.

>>>It pains me to hear someone who is a preacher judge another believer without having any information about that person.

Well...as is typical on FR and other blogs, people only read certain parts of a post. I made it VERY clear that I had no idea where she stood in Christ...or when she came to Him if she was saved.

"And it all depends on if you has come to Christ AFTER all of these things...or if she's a typical American Christian who wants to judge the sins of others yet fails to look at the log in her own eye"

"And that is the real question: Is she a real Christian or a false one."

So...from my statements I made it clear that I had no idea. I did not assume anything...I was simply making statements regarding various possibilities. So...let me make it abundantly clear on where I stand:

1) - She should not have been made to sign a certificate...even if she was an atheist.

2) - If she is a CINO...and not born again (and lets be honest...there are a LOT of them out there)...she's got bigger problems than hypocrisy.

3) - If she IS a true believer...and all of these divorces and out of wedlock children came after her profession of faith...then THIS is where 1 Cor 5:9-13 applies and this is the scenario I was hypothetically speaking about...because let's be honest again...there are a LOT of Christians out there living in sin...going to church on Sunday morning and then they go home to their live-in lover...or habitually fornicate girl/boy friend and feel absolutely no remorse over their sin whatsoever.

4) - If she IS a true believer (and you have indicated she is) and came to faith after all of these actions (which you statement seems to indicate is a possibility)...or even during and who has asked forgiveness...then 1 Cor 5 doesn't apply and she's forgiven...period...and all of this doesn't matter. She's a new creation - 2 Cor 5:17.

And I DID say negative things...perhaps you missed it:

"You simply can't be Spirit filled and agree with abortion and gay rights."

"That's why when I preach on this issue I spend much more time condemning HER sin than the gay couples. Why? More bang for my buck. Why preach so I can get amens form the likes of her who are living in their own unrepentant sin."

I made it pretty clear that homosexuality is sin...and that the believer CANNOT agree with it because the Spirit dwells within them. It's pretty clear from my statement that BOTH adultery and homosexuality are sin...but given the fact I have limited time and my job is to edify and build up the body...I want to concentrate on the things that will help people live HOLY lives...NOT the sins we all agree on. I don't need an amen corner.

With all due respect this woman is following her faith to the best of her abilities, not "taking up moral and spiritual issues" for you. You can either agree with her or not, but falling back on the oft used "hypocritical" canard that the Democrats often use to brand their enemies (while conveniently ignoring their own hypocrisy) is not a logical or rational argument.

Personally I prefer to take on moral and spiritual issues myself and not leave it to others. When I am called to judgment by my Lord, I doubt that I will be credited or debited any actions of another.

I was baptized into the same church as hers.

Then you should know better.

A man and a woman want marriage license. Perhaps one (or both) has been divorced. Perhaps the woman has an out-of-wedlock child. Neither of these are beyond forgiveness with true repentance.

There can be no repentance between two men or two women getting “married” - unless they do not get married at all.

>>>I could’ve sworn Paul wrote that letter...

Just wow.

Jesus IS the Word of God. It is HIS Spirit that moved Paul's pen. Paul wrote an original letter to the Corinthians BEFORE the one we know as 1 Corinthians and he wrote a letter to the Laodiceans...and probably much more...but they are not in the Bible. Why? Because JESUS didn't write them...Paul did.

If Jesus has not moved Paul's hand through His Holy Spirit...we wouldn't be talking about 1 Cor 5 right now at all. Jesus IS the Word made flesh (John 1:14). He IS the LOGOS.

So I guess you only follow the red letters of scripture?

>>>"If." "Sounds like." "Probably." That's right...you do not know her heart. You can only guess. And speaking of people who are quick to judge, what are YOU doing?

Following the scripture. As I said...I have no clue. What I am addressing, however, is a bigger problem at large which she may OR MAY NOT represent...and that is Christians who want to say "I thank God I'm not a sinner like that person" when they are deep in the mire of their own sin.

Sorry you fail to understand that. I'm not judging HER at all...I'm judging a scenario. There are PLENTY of people...even here on this forum...who claim the name of Christ...who want to point out other's sin and say they stand against sin when they themselves are wallowing in it.

So...again...I am pointing out that this is a problem in the Church today. Whether or not SHE is doing it...I have no clue. But I know this...even if she is not...there are plenty out there who are...and that's why the church in America is in big trouble.

Do we know she does?

Who knows what is in her heart?

Who am I to judge this woman based solely on her party affiliation?

She may be registered as a democrat, run as a democrat for elected office, but is it out of firmly believing in the rat platform or is it a matter of convenience in order to gain elected office? How many so-called “republicans” have done the same?

How many rats are willing to take a stand such as this? To be in direct conflict with what the rat party wholly endorses? To be vilified, excoriated, degraded, and abandoned for standing on a religious principle?

She is not “ushering in sodomy” because she’s in prison right now for refusing to grant a license to sodomites to “marry” on the stated reason that it is against her faith.
