I know what you mean. It's funny but hubby and I hardly use ice anymore. And he would not allow the ice-maker hooked up in our fridge.

Thank you so much for the acknowledgement, Kathy. The appreciation shown to me by the great great folks at FR for this project inspired me to keep going for the whole time of the war. Maybe we can do it all again for the 80th anniversary. Then I can finally read the stuff I posted since I won't have to spend all my time preparing it for posting.
I don’t mind the long thursdays because I have some really fine musicians on that day! We JAM!
However, my Terrible-Tablet-Toting-Tuesday-Terror is back on schedule as well as some really AWFUL Spoiled Friday girls.

Good morning Kathy, on this sad day for Americans. Reading last night’s posts here only made me sadder. Thinking of Homer’s project, he reminded us how we reacted to aggression in 1941. Our country united with a serious objective of defeating some bad people and it was a tough road with a lot of sacrifice. In the end we saved the world (or a big part of it).
In 2001 we faced the same threat and came together...for a little while. But soon enough we forgot who our mortal enemy is, and in a few years we put the enemy in our White House. On today’s anniversary of the attack on our country, we have clearly failed in saving the world as Europe is being overrun. We have failed the test of national resolve as we just sealed the deal to pay $150 billion in tribute to our sworn enemy to finance their construction of nuclear weapons. Do you think our enemies aren’t having a bigger celebration today of all days?
This is probably the saddest 9/11 since the original event, because we clearly didn’t win this war, we are losing it, and badly.
Well, one of us is working today, at least for a few hours anyway.
Nada planned for the weekend, although I'm happy to see college and pro football underway again.
OK, I'm going to sip some more coffee and mourn with the rest of America, have a great weekend!
Thanks again, Homer, for your dedication to this project and reminding us all of the sacrifices made by an entire generation on our behalf.
A HUGE thank you... what a fascinating series... my Dad fought in WWII and I have really appreciated following this in real time, just as the people who were living through it.

I'm also remembering how we've managed to hunt down and take out many of those who had a hand it this tragedy.
I’m sure that LUV W remembers this as clearly as I do.
I remember on 9/11 leaving my wife’s house house (we were just dating at the time) and looking towards downtown about 11pm on 9/11 and for the first time in my life seeing the whole of the Midland skyline shrouded in darkness. That’s when the reality and the gravity of the situation we were facing that day really began to set in with me. I didn’t sleep a wink that night...I just kept replaying what had transpired that day over and over in my head.
LUV I was at the intersection of Garfield and Illinois when that happened. First National Bank...dark...Vaughn Building...lights out and on and on.
It was a necessity in more ways than one. No one knew if all the attacks were done. Tall building were obviously a target and Midland was/is #5 in the state for hi-rise office space.
Five of the major oil and gas pipelines run through West Texas..another reason we were a potential target.
And the First Lady’s mother resides in Midland.
Downtown Midland, Texas dark as a tomb...I’ll never forget it.
