Glenn Beck: I apologize for calling Sarah Palin a clown but stand by everything else I said
Hotair ^ | 09/11/2015 | AllahPundit

An obligatory follow-up to last night’s post. Sounds like my theory was largely correct: It’s not just his personal falling-out with Palin, which he elaborates on in his new Facebook post, or her embrace of the progressive Trump that’s bothering him, it’s the whole damned discombobulating phenomenon of Trumpmania among the tea party and its sympathizers.

Especially its sympathizers in conservative talk radio.

I do not understand her position and love of Trump. He is clearly a progressive, not a small government constitutionalist…

But he is also a bully, sexist, cruel, an ego manic and narcissist in ways that makes Barack Obama seem like Saint Francis…

As Sarah Palin holds a unique place with the tea party, I expect more from her. Perhaps this is wrong of me. To support Trump and ignore his very disturbing policies makes you a populist at best. But I am almost alone in this it seems. At least with almost anyone in my job. Maybe they all have a personal relationship with him or I am just wrong…

What principles that the tea party is founded on is she promoting with her love of trump?…

[My personal grievance with her] was Coupled with total confusion on her love affair with Donald Trump (made worse in my head by my lack of ability to grasp what 30% of small government Self proclaimed constitutionalist, values and religious people see in him.

He apologizes for calling her a “clown” in yesterday’s radio rant but stresses that he stands by all of his other criticisms. The “clown” bit was apparently triggered by watching her be chummy with Trump at Wednesday’s rally against the Iran deal in D.C.; that subject is far too grave, Beck says, for serious conservatives to applaud Trump’s self-serving clownish hijacking of the event. As for the mysterious falling-out with Palin, read the full post for details on the unnamed Iago figure who set Beck, Sean Hannity, and Mark Levin at each other’s throats by spreading lies about them to each other, and whom Beck suspects of pulling the same trick between him and Palin. “Celebrity, fame and TV/radio are poison to humans I believe. At least it has been to me,” he writes. “I wouldn’t wish it on my worst enemy.”

Does he really not understand the appeal of Trumpism, though? I’ve always thought it was a more or less straightforward matter of Trump being willing to throw unusually hard punches at the right’s enemies, whether it’s Obama, the GOP leadership in Washington, illegals, or even John McCain. John Nolte wrote a bit about that yesterday, using Trump’s wisecrack about Carly Fiorina as an example of how he’s willing and able to fight successfully the way the left does. “Nobody votes for punks,” said Nolte. “People respect strength.” That’s the Trump “alpha” persona in a nutshell. The more he shoves Beltway Republicans into lockers, the more atomic wedgies he delivers to his GOP opponents, the more politically incorrect he is, the more the legend of “he fights!” grows. And years before Trump had that reputation, Palin had it. “She fights!” was probably the most popular reason given by righties for idolizing her during her 2009-11 heyday. The two of them have each spent years being scolded repeatedly by “respectable” opinion-makers for things they’ve said and they’ve refused to back down, i.e. apologize, from any of it. They’re both subversive in that sense, a rebuke to the ruling political order. Trump is filling the niche she used to fill because what he lacks in Palin’s conservative principles he makes up for in his greater willingness to groin-punch his enemies. Palin evidently decided that that was close enough to populist conservatism to make nice with Trump. Beck disagreed. That’s the difference.

Here’s her speech at the rally against the Iran deal. Exit quotation from Beck: “It may mean that I don’t have a single listener left in the end but I would rather be true to myself, principles and to my God than to parties, cliques or popularity.” I believe him.

I saw that post ... evidently, Todd is the one who answered the phone & clued GB in that someone was spreading stories. He’s made up with Sean & Levin, but for whatever reason, seems to think making up with Sarah is not an option. Calling her a “clown” didn’t help - especially since he’s been preaching ‘unity’ every chance he can get.

As of today, I’m no longer following Glenn on FB (was doing it out of curiosity) - it’s just too exhausting with all of his mood swings, ramblings, etc. I think the guy has his heart in the right place, but he needs to ‘get a grip’ before he goes totally off the cliff & has a mental breakdown or collapses physically. This time, with his rambling incoherent FB post about Sarah (before he “apologized”) & some other stuff, he’s ‘jumped the (last) shark’ for me.

I know there was the beer summit with some of the second string talkers a while back. Perhaps Savage was responsible for some things that upset Beck? I consider Savage & Beck in a similar camp. Don’t trust either very much, but listen to Savage once in a while. Beck’s holy patriot act annoys & bores me, though.

Lots of Patriots have a place, and so does Beck.
He’s NOT a politician. He’s not a genius.
He’s best when he shares his research and puts the dots together, not a teacher, but maybe an informed pal.

The Great One is a legal attack dog. And funny as h*ll.
El Rushbo has kept the home fires burning for over 20 years and enlightened many of us to great conservative themes.
Our Gal Sarah brought the fight back to the game.
The Donald will be the storm that finally clears the field in preparation.

So, who will begin rebuilding?

I bet it’s gonna be a whole bunch of small-ball actions;
church groups, school boards, Rotary and Lions clubs. There are both locational and “temporal” immigrants. 25 million people weren’t alive when the towers fell. You will need to convince some of your neighbors and TEACH them by example.

Rebuilding America won’t come from DC. That model is done for generations. That’s where Beck is going with his screed.

If he says anything bad about Gov Palin again, I’ll wait in the Patriot line for days to punch him in the mouth.

Other than not being a political animal for the majority of her life, I struggle to find any fault with Palin. Glenn Beck is a putz.

Glen, what happened? Have you lost it? Its not just about Trump—you have been really acting odd of late—Get some help! Go on a retreat to Utah. Meet with your Bishop—seek advise from the Prophet. Maybe you have been working too hard—Palin is your friend—why dis her? Even if you hate Trump like he’s a new Satan or Hitler—you are getting warped by this. You have achieved great things in the last few years—why are you tossing it all away? If your taking pills or drinkin’ Stop it!

I will support Cruz until the very end. However...

Trump is talking about the issues that truly count domestically - illegal immigration. You don’t fix that and its over for any Conservative politician, and America as we know it.
He is clearing the field of trash - Jeb, Christie, Rubio, Graham etc. Those clowns campaigns are going nowhere.
He is making the liberal media go on the defensive, therefore they are not controlling the debate.

I honestly find it rather humorous the angst Trump creates among those most responsible for America’s current situation - the left, the media, and establishment Republicans.

Let me know and I’ll put some money on your book so you can get some treats from the commissary while you’re in.

It would be worth doing the time for.

Apparently, Glenn is driven by his emotions, NOT the logic and substance he wants us to believe.

Heretofore, I had no knowledge about his feud with Palin & Hannity, although I was aware that Levin mocked him.

I’ll never forget that sappy interview Glenn held with Sarah Palin on his Fox News show. Back then he proclaimed “Sarah Palin was the second coming of RWR and more!” Beck acted like a teenage boy in love with an untouchable, dream girl. Beck was a total sycophant. If I take the time to look through all my stored articles, I think I can find that interview. Too bad for Beck, Sarah Palin burst some of his dreamy expectations during that interview. Palin was not at her best, and I remember that Glenn was disappointed with some of her answers.

I think Beck needs the immediate care of an excellent psychiatrist. I know that my cherished DrO said the same way back when Glenn was still hosting his Fox show.

Beck is using his radio show, FaceBook and his live appearances on various TV shows, “to work out his problems with others,” when in fact, he would be better off airing these same grievances from a couch in the sanctity of a psychiatrist’s office. (I don’t receive his TV show, so I have no idea what he peddles and pontificates about from that platform).

Beck’s “problems with others,” are of his own doing. Beck is seriously “mental.”

I think glen beck does a lot of monitoring of sites like free republic and that when he saw posts like mine saying that he sounds like he is having a bi-polar melt down he realized that he sounded bat ass crazy on Thursday...I still think he has a lot of good ideas and his heart is in the right place but I stand by my claim that on the radio his show sounds like the rant of someone suffering from Bi- polar disorder and he needs help not ridicule. I myself suffer from the disorder and you can sound so crazy and sane at the same time when you are in the middle of a mania

I’m enjoying it as well. Still planning to vote Cruz in March.

But I will gladly pull the lever in Nov. for Trump if only to stick it to the aforementioned.

Well, he was on Hannity a year or two ago talking about some kind of major auto-immune disease he had that almost drove him off the air before the launch of his new TV show or network or whatever. If that was true, then either the disease or whatever meds he might be on might be messing his brain up now.
