Nearly 20 years after California became the first state to legalize the medical use of marijuana, legislators have a plan to impose order on the erratic patchwork of inconsistent policies that currently govern the billion-dollar industry.
Were making up for two decades of inaction, said state senator Mike McGuire, whose district includes the Emerald Triangle in Northern California where 60% of the marijuana grown in the US is cultivated. This legislation brings clarity and desperately needed rules and regulations.
In the final hours of the legislative session that ended late Friday night, lawmakers passed a trio of bills that create a legal framework that puts the state firmly in control of managing marijuana from seed to sale while still leaving local municipalities with the ability to craft their own ordinances and impose taxes, according to state assembly member Ken Cooley, author of one of the bills. The deal was brokered with the assistance of governor Jerry Brown, virtually ensuring it will be signed into law.

Ping!
You have to have some central point to receive graft and dole out influence.
Is it administered by the Clinton foundation?
Ministry of Hallucinations?
Its employees will be called Pot Heads.
I guess “regulate” is a government euphemism for “tax the hell out of.”
Yep. So much better when they could put people in cages for using it. That was truly small government.
Far out.
“Medical” marijuana. It’s the joke that’s sick.
Why do they still call it “medical” marihuana? (Maybe because most people who smoke it are sick?)
I have always known that if pot ever became legal it would be all about just 2 things: the money and control of the population. There is absolutely no government interest in medical use or compassion or recreational use or principles or morals or whether it’s a good idea for society or not. It’s money and control.
Fining and jailing people for using unapproved plant matter fits that description to a T.
From the federal National Institute on Drug Abuse (http://www.drugabuse.gov/publications/drugfacts/marijuana-medicine:
Currently, the two main cannabinoids from the marijuana plant that are of medical interest are THC and CBD.
THC increases appetite and reduces nausea. The FDA-approved THC-based medications are used for these purposes. THC may also decrease pain, inflammation (swelling and redness), and muscle control problems.
CBD is a cannabinoid that does not affect the mind or behavior. It may be useful in reducing pain and inflammation, controlling epileptic seizures, and possibly even treating mental illness and addictions.
NIH-funded and other researchers are continuing to explore the possible uses of THC, CBD, and other cannabinoids for medical treatment.
