Jonah Goldberg and the Anti-Trumpians – Part 2 (another great Nolte article!)
breitbart.com ^ | 9/12/15 | John Nolte

Posted on 09/13/2015 6:24:28 AM PDT by cotton1706

On the digital pages of National Review, Jonah Goldberg responded at length to the many criticism/rebuttals he received in response to a G-File published last week where he sank his teeth into Republican frontrunner Donald Trump and his supporters.

Like everything Jonah writes, you should read the whole thing. This is a good debate; healthy for the Party and the movement. Unlike many who share his point of view, Goldberg is engaging in a spirited, not mean-spirited, discussion.

One party Goldberg responds to is yours truly. Goldberg takes “particular exception” to what I wrote here…

To his credit, Goldberg doesn’t hurl names at Trump’s supporters but his sneering (and surprisingly clueless) incredulity does boil them down to unthinking, knee-jerk cretins.

…and responds in part with what an accusation of hypocrisy:

He gives me credit for not hurling insults and then says I’m insulting people anyway in effect because I’m saying things they don’t want to hear. Look, I don’t think all of Trump’s fans are unthinking, knee-jerk cretins. Far from it. But I do think they’re wrong.

Great post, Lady.

And as far as attacking “ladies,” well, ladies, you either play with the big boys or go boo-hooing off the stage with Patsy Schroeder. (I’d prefer that you do that because ladies in politics and the voting booth are toxic). There is no crying in politics and Trump can damn well insult whatever woman he wants - especially if she starts the name-calling. Grow up, Carly!

I don’t think Trump is philosophically conservative, but he is philosophically American. That puts him head and shoulders above most of the pack who are multi-national politicians.

Yes.

There are globalists in both parties. There are globalists right here.

They have left America behind, emotionally. They need to appeal to people who are American in their bones to get to where they want to go, but to them, personally, America is in the past.

The battle is not red v. blue. It's not Republican v. Democrat. It's not even really conservative v. not-conservative.

It's American v. Globalist.

There are people (like me) who, when they hear "Make America Great Again" feel their hearts glow within them. Then, there are the Jonah Goldbergs who, when they hear "Make America Great Again" say, "What are you talking about?".

It's on. Finally.

Go Trump!

Obviously Coulter’s point was missed on you and Levin.

When do liberals not use others for their purposes?

SSDD.

Now you know why I prefer Skyrim to reality. It’s saner.

My feeling is that Trump would turn out like Arnold Schwarzenegger turned out in California
PC is a feeling, "Feelings" is exactly what's wrong with us today.

Other than they're both celebrities, how in the world could you ever even think to compare the two.

The personalities and the intellect alone are miles apart. Schwarzenegger is a dimwit by comparison.

Schwarzenegger was taken over and brainwashed by GOPe advisors and even former governor Pete Wilson. He was nothing more than their experimental puppet.

"Do you really think there is a future for any baby in this country if the border remains porous?

The third world trash, not to mention the jihadi butchers, that will continue to pour in will not give a damn about your concern for babies and scissors. That is Coulter’s point.

Wake Up!!!"

As important as the border is, if you agree with what Coulter said...dude, you don't need to be telling ME to wake up.

If you want to shrug off baby murder for now, that's your problem.

I don’t think Trump is philosophically conservative, but he is philosophically American.

America isn't America without conservative, originalist constitutional principles.

Trump needs to be a lot of that.

Chris Wallace from Fox News is doing what he can to help; now it is called a “Trump food fight”...how they love to slip in their name calling and think it is funny, and think we are stupid. I think they are more narcissistic, immature and thin skinned than The Donald.

Someone really needs to call out Mark Levin on his completely illogical contorted conclusions regarding the NBC status of Ted Cruz.

That man has lost all credibility as far as I am concerned when he convinced so many that a man sired by a citizen of a foreign country could actually be considered as Constitutionally eligible to become President in accord with the standards established by the Founders.

"Don’t give me the dude crap, it makes you sound like a 12-year-old."

Defending unborn babies---refusing to minimize their right to life---makes me sound twelve? If we've indeed come to such a low point, I embrace that label, then.

But your angry lashing out makes me think your conscience is telling you different.

"Read the link below and then get down off your highhorse:"

Folks, you see it here---refusing to shrug off baby murder is "being on a high horse." Have we come to that point? Really?

You can pass me by with that screaming stupidity and cult of personality crap.

Everybody assumes Trump was insulting Carly’s physical facial features as not being attractive. Even Carly misses the point & says she’s proud of every single wrinkle. Here’s a different take (and one with which I happen to agree):

Like it or not the USA is in a post Constitutional era.

Well then.

Ra Ra. Go post Constitutional America.

Anyway, as I said, Trump (or any candidate) needs to be pro liberty, pro Constitution. If they are not that, then the claim of being "pro American" becomes meaningless.

Why would we expect a lifelong liberal like Trump to act like a conservative as President?
