For two weeks we have been tracking closely the discussion, behavior, trends and analysis in several groups: the CNN team, the Salem Media team, the professional apparatus of the RNC, and the individual GOPe candidates. An overall theme is well established to aid in predicting what will follow more on that later.
In the interim, heres Jake Tapper explaining, well, actually I would assert pre-justifying, the approach to pit the candidates against each other. [*NOTE* Jake first made this accidental assertion of his intent at 3:05pm on September 11th]
Today Tapper discusses the goal to pit the candidates against each other against the backdrop of a discussion with CNN President Jeff Zucker, who apparently gave him the green light:

Unbelievable
Trump don’t need no steenkin debates!
It’s the GOPee attack puppies that need to debate..to score on Trump.
Trump should stay away using the request for CNN to donate the proceeds as reason!
I wish he would. The CNN debate is going to be a fiasco created by GOPe...then blamed on CNN..but the damage they want will be done
Mr. Dance sure does “write” catchy stuff.
Good enough to provide Mr. Dance with some hits, huh?
That’s as opposed to Fox News
pitting the moderators against
the candidates.
I think I actually prefer CNN’s approach.

-—Did you look at site and all the George Pataki crap?
hey, “THEY” asked Trump to sign a pledge, how about we ask the GOPe to sign a pledge that they will support the nominee NO MATTER WHO IT IS?
Turn about is fair play, right?
That’s fine. I didn’t sign any “pledge”.
Trump better decisively win the nomination before the convention, otherwise the GOPe will screw him over and make certain one of theirs is the nominee.
And you know what? The Republican vote for president will be incredibly low...and the GOPe will not understand!
No.
When stuff is "written" in order to get hits.. I give none.
Jake Tapper and Hugh Hewitt. Jake is one of Hugh’s favorite liberals who often appears on Hugh’s show. This will be no different than the first debate, a chance for the “moderators” to increase market share.
I question whether he'll be able to respond effectively.
I'm a Trump supporter, but he is vulnerable to attacks from the right. It doesn't matter that those who attack him are no further to the right than he is, they will call him out like the hypocrites they are.
And it may have some effect.
keep your head in the sand
Trump should wear a target on his back and everytime they go afterhim turn his back to them. The audience would love it and he would come out on top.

Yep, this all started in earnest the day after Trump signed his pledge not to run 3rd party. He never should have done it. You simply cannot trust the GOPe.
It’ll boil down to Trump’s elephant mouth and the other’s hummingbird a-holes.
Personally I think Trump after the CNN debate needs to annouonce he is not going to participate in any more debates as its all been said and he has speeches to give and voters to meet. He is just giving his second tier contenders a platform to attack him in the debates. If he pulls out who will even watch the other 6 debates? We are done after the one on WEd. I have no further motivation to listen to the same drivel over and over.
