MANCHESTER, N.H. —Democratic presidential candidate Martin O’Malley calls for universal background checks, fingerprint licensing for gun purchases and a rejection of federally mandated concealed carry in a plan he says will "prevent and reduce" gun violence.

His plan, to be unveiled at a gun safety roundtable at Boys and Girls Harbor in New York City, would also ban “assault weapons” and close loopholes he says currently make women vulnerable to gun violence."

Scratch a “liberal” — find a totalitarian underneath. Every time.

Brilliant!
Because gun control is such a winning issue!
Looks like another liberal scumbag wants to give Obama a run as salesman of the decade for the firearm industry.

Which of these gun laws, exactly, would have saved Kate Steinle? I’ll wait.

I had a conservative on another site tell me there’s no such thing as an assault weapon. Term made by the media.

I know nothing about guns. Is that true?

Shooting my first one in Nevada in 3 weeks :) 47 and first time ..sigh

So let me guess, will Chuck E Schumer and Dianne Feinstein still be able to keep their concealed permits and Steven Speilberg will still have his gun collection and bodyguards for Oprah Winfrey and Rosie O’Donnell be allowed to carry concealed firearms?

If he has finished apologizing to black racists, maybe he should apologize to gun owners now. Supports black racists and wants to disarm people who will need those guns for self defense. Screwball.

So how many killings were by ‘assault’ weapons vs regular type assault weapon since any weapon can be considered an assault weapon.

There are assault rifles. They are fully automatic/select fire and unfortunately only available to the military or the police unless you go through the hassle of getting a Class III stamp from the BATF.

An AR-15 is not an assault rifle however. It is a semi-automatic. Each one pull of the trigger = one round fired.

And how is a politician’s open threat to violate the civil rights of Americans not grounds for a class action suit exactly?

Because if the NRA/GOA and other money collection groups would spend some of it bringing civil rights suits against these pols when they run for office, I would bet they might actually win.

Nothing has stuck for this stick in the mud so it is back to the basic red herrings of the party. RATS never change their toon. They’re a one trick pony and it fools the low info RATS every time.

Assault weapons are what the troops use in Afghanistan. Modern sporting rifles may look like them, but do not have the Select fire switch, meaning they are a neutered version of the gun and do not act similarly in any way whatsoever.

That is a great point. Any lawyers here care to opine if that is plausible?

Welcome to O’Malleyland. The jerk helped institute certain types of ammo magazines, an AR-15 ban, a requirement to have a handgun qualification license, etc, etc.

I bought too much this year in guns, suppressors x 2 and ammo....over my limit. But after hearing this I may go out and purchase that Sig Sauer AR in 300 Blackout.
