Campaign launched against 'harmful' sex robots
CNBC ^ | September 15, 2015 | Holly Ellyatt

They are yet to hit the shelves, but activists are already campaigning against the sale of so-called sex robots, which may be "harmful and contribute to inequalities in society."

Several companies are developing robots that can be used as sexual substitutes for humans, leading to the launch of the "Campaign against sex robots" on Tuesday to highlight the potential dangers.

I wonder if the activists will still be active over robots for homosexuals.......

Since the male dolls cost ten times as much as the female dolls, there's a sexual discrimination lawsuit right there.

What I want to know is, whether the Average Joe or Jane would take the time to thorough-clean a sex doll. Have they made the critical areas detachable and dishwasher safe, for instance? LOL! It's bad enough having to disassemble the humidifier every day of the winter and wash it in white vinegar so you won't get fungal sinus infection. I can see the sexual harassment lawsuits now from the maid being asked to clean the robot.

This whole idea reminds me of when my parents wouldn't let me or my siblings read Classic Comic Books—they made us read only the real books. Robot sex must be like the difference between fresh-squeezed orange juice and Kool-Aid. I wouldn't know. And I'm in no hurry to find out. Do these robots excrete pheromones? Can you sniff their armpits? Is their skin a little salty after a nice day at the beach? How about the hair — does it have that distinctive funky hair aroma if your partner hasn't shampooed today, or is it just squeaky strands of Dynel? Do they get in the shower with you and soap you up? Will the robot give you a nice back rub or foot rub first? I don't think you could buy that even for $75 grand.

Hopefully, there will be no program option to turn them into "Housewives of Who Gives a Crap" or "Jersey Shore Sluts" or "Big Brother B*tches" or "Party Down South Skanks" or any other of the classless girls on reality TV. However, I would consider a younger version of Helen Mirren. Ha!

New reality show: "The Robotette". They could give away a proprietary remote instead of roses.

Hmmm, not my idea of what to do with a sex robot. But I guess scratch and sniff products can be added during assembly. This whole thing is real kinky, but I guess that's where society is headed!

The cheap one is $7000, the high end one is 75K? If I spend that kind of money, it better cook, clean the house, mow the lawn, and do the grocery shopping.

I don’t think so and porn has likely done the opposite. Seeing images increases the desire for real physical sex in most people.

But when you have real physical sex at the touch of a button, there is nowhere “higher” to go and no reason to use other people for it.

If you are right, which I hope you are not, then the human race will become extinct, at least those of us in the developed world. I have a suspicion that like gay marriage, this robot thing will be only a brief temporary phenomenon, that is until sharia law is fully implemented world wide. Demography is a bitch.

They’ve had mechanical sex machines for women for a long time.

I bet some of these activists have even used them such as a vibrator or the more advanced sybian. Putting these devices on a male robot would be easy enough.

I didn’t see where a male version would cost $70k. They just said the more advanced and more options; the more expensive they get.

These robots are going to happen. I bet these activists will be some of the first to get them.

"Then again, maybe it's more than just gluing on a vibrator that makes a male more valuable."

The extra $68k lets it open stuck jars and kill spiders...

Already in the developed world, the only people having kids are those that truly want them or those that get paid to have them.

Medical science will eventually eliminate aging and disease so people will live much longer. Population will also become irrelevant as machines take over tasks.

Sharia itself is based on sex slavery and would collapse in a world where sex is irrelevant.

IMO, we will achieve full virtual reality long before we perfect sex robots. No need for power, servos, skin, repairs etc. Plus with VR you can have infinite numbers of sex partners and go beyond the laws of physics. All we need is a computer that interfaces with the brain and we are getting close.
