IMO, Trump, to deflect criticism that he is a nativist, racist, hater, etc., should stress that we want to accept a reasonable number of good, talented people who want to come here, AFTER we get the situation under control. But first we have to get the flood under control, or our middle class will drown.
We are already too far along a path toward a country consisting mostly of a few “haves”, and the rest “have nots” dependent on the gov’t.

I put mandatory vaccines in the same category with seatbelt laws. The government has no business telling anyone what to do for their own protection. Doing so probably saved a lot of lives so it’s possible their overreach actually had a good effect (for once) but setting the precedent that the government can tell you what’s good for you is a bad one.

The point of requiring vaccinations is to achieve “herd immunity.” So the government isn’t trying to tell individuals what’s good for them. The government is trying to tell a mass group of people what’s good for them.
