This is the ad that could sink Carly Fiorina’s campaign
Washington Post ^ | 9/17/15 | Chris Cillizza

Carly Fiorina is the new "it" candidate in the Republican presidential field, following a second straight sterling debate performance at the Ronald Reagan presidential library Wednesday night.

But there was a moment in the debate that previewed a major potential weakness for Fiorina. It came when moderator Jake Tapper noted that Donald Trump had said Fiorina "ran HP into the ground" during her time as CEO. Fiorina responded, "I led Hewlett Packard through a very difficult time, the worst technology recession in 25 years," adding: "We had to make tough choices, and in doing so, we saved 80,000 jobs, went on to grow to 160,000 jobs."

Trump -- and Tapper -- largely let the issue drop. But Fiorina's past political history suggests that her struggles at HP could be a campaign killer.

In 2010, Fiorina was running surprisingly close to California Sen. Barbara Boxer (D), who was struggling in a strong election cycle for Republicans nationally. Then, Boxer ran this ad focused on Fiorina's time at the helm of HP.

The commercial notes that Fiorina laid off 30,000 workers at HP while feathering her own nest (the ad's narrator says she tripled her salary) and buying a "million-dollar yacht" and "five corporate jets." It went up on TV in the middle of September and effectively ended Fiorina's chances.

Look at this chart, via Real Clear Politics, documenting the polling averages for the entirety of the Boxer-Fiorina contest.

See how the red line starts dropping precipitously right around mid-September? That's not a coincidence. The ad functioned as a sort of knock-out punch for Boxer even in a year where Republicans claimed victories all across the country.

Yeah, Sarah endorsed her and good ole Carly turned around and backstabbed her. Typical of an opportunist RINO.

I’ll tell you what. Fiorina talks as tough or tougher than everyone’s hero, Trump, AND she knows what she’s talking about to boot.

Our hero, Trump, is our one and only chance to get a President not owned by big money. He's it, there's not runner-up, no 2nd chances, this is it.

If we let this slip away, the country's gone and everyone here knows it.

I’ve been saying she’s bad news. Once people start seeing this, she’ll crash and burn nationally just as she did in California. She can’t lie her way out of everything.

“DEC VAX”

I got to play on that box in the late 80s. A little long in the tooth.

Does anybody know how many actual eyeballs ( /2) saw the debate last night?

All the ones watching, at least half have had a crazy bitch boss like Fiorina who want NO MORE of that Sociopathic torture, let alone on TV all the time.

It’s not going to take a whole lot to sink iCarly.

As much as I utterly despise that foul creature named Boxer, anyone who was paying attention could have told you the Democrats would’ve run these ads, and they’re true. Kicking red blooded Americans out of their jobs and holding their severance to force them to train their sweaty unshowered sub-par not even barely competent third world invader replacements is un-American, period. I would rather die of aggressive bone cancer than ever give my suppport to Fiorina. She is my enemy.

That puts the people back where we are, open border, exporting jobs, minimum wages, the list goes on. It would finish us off.

I think Kenny's facts Trumps your Carly warmfuzzies.

“He’s it, there’s not runner-up, no 2nd chances, this is it.”

This needs to be hammered 24/7.

We did the candidate carousel last time. Not now.

That doesn’t change the fact that Fiorina wiped the floor with Trump in the last debate.

So, Trump was beaten down by a big government statist/abortionist. Doesn’t surprise me, since he’s a crony capitalist of the first order and has been in favor of abortion himself in the past.

Face it, once Trump is challenged by someone who knows what they’re talking about, he’s immediately on the defensive factually, and tries to bluster his way back on top...often successfully, as it turns out. But he’s a policy lightweight.

It’s doesn’t matter how poisonous Fio-RINO is to normal people. The Karl Rove fanboys on FR have been called out to help Fio-RINO become the next GOPe Designated Loser to ensure Hillary is elected..

Talk is cheap. Carly has no record of acheivement except talking her way into the job. Once she gets it, she isn’t up for the task.

It is one thing to wreck one company, but two? Nope.

When Trump nailed her last night, I could see her seethe. Ya know why?

The truth hurts.

She and Hillary could make this a female epic fail of an election. Two shrews duking it out over poor records of achievement.

Geesh

I’ll repeat one more time: Boxer destroyed Fio-RINO with these ads. Just like Hillary will.

Don't try confusing people with the facts, jimbo. :)

The only thing Carly knows how to do is flush good companies down the drain. Build cheap printers with expensive ink.

That’s not a viable business plan for my country. I’ll pass.

Compaq was a Dog that no one would touched except for that so called genius .

This snake tried to remove the HP founding family members from the board in a late sneaky coup because they tried to stop her bad decisions.

HP is still around despite her 94 million dollar shake down but Lucent Labs another Caryl disaster was not as lucky .

Heh, wait until the Left starts doing anti-Trump ads instead of just egging him on in the primaries, exactly like they did for McCain, by the way.

You don’t think they’ll find the same sort of material, and a lot more of it, when they start interviewing people who wound up on the wrong side of Trumps 4, count ‘em, FOUR corporate bankruptcies? But hey, he’s a genius. Helps that dad gave him a quarter of a billion dollars to get started though.
