Trump’s advice to teens: Follow your heart, do what you love

"You represent so much. You represent the future. You represent something very important," he said.

URBANDALE, Iowa | Donald Trump’s advice for high school students in suburban Des Moines, Iowa, is uncharacteristically wholesome: Avoid alcohol and drugs as well as cigarettes.

The billionaire businessman and Republican presidential candidate is also encouraging the teens to follow their hearts and do something they love, even if it means making less money.

“You represent so much. You represent the future. You represent something very important,” he said.

Trump offered his views Saturday night in the parking lot of Urbandale High School as he addressed a group of students dressed in sparkly mini dresses and suspenders and bowties ahead of their fall homecoming dance. A social media campaign brought him to the celebration and hundreds of students, parents and others turned out to hear him.

If Trump wants a message that resonates with young people he should tell them about how both parties and the bankers who own them have robbed each and every young person and unborn American. Our children will have to pay the debt and it’s a message that most young people understand even though they rarely hear about it.

He needs to focus on this because it’s the one issue that resonates beyond everything including immigration. We have witnessed a theft unequaled in the history of mankind - the “spending” of trillions to benefit the few.

This is the idea that drove both the Tea Party and “Occupy”. It’s a message understood regardless of party affiliation and while we may not agree on how to fix it, we should all agree it’s a problem far bigger than any other. If we don’t stop borrowing trillions to finance today we will destroy our nation tomorrow.

It started with Bush and Obama doubled down. We have very little to show for it outside of an inflated stock market. Really think about it. Is your income greater or less now? Are the roads and infrastructure in your community better or worse? Is your dollar worth more or less? Are your schools better or worse? Is your standard of living better or worse? Is the military stronger or weaker? The list goes on and the answers appear obvious.

This is the message above all others that will capture young people, crossover voters, and the average middle American. If Trump is serious about building a better America for our children he has to blast both parties for the out of control spending/borrwing. He should continue to tell everyone that he is beholden to nobody - unlike both parties that “need the money”.

That is the winning message that really crosses party lines and will motivate the voters who have just given up because they see the truth - there is little difference between the parties.

Yet Trump is leading every candidate you listed and by a large margin.

Sounds like Common Core math.
