Trump doesn’t need 50% to win. If his support remains right where it is, he will be the GOP nominee.
It must kill Jeb not to have that place since he would be the front-runner today.
I bet Romney was too.
McCain as well.
That seems more like a prerequisite for the job than a disqualification.
Iowa is a microcosm of America. Dems turnout in urban Iowa overwhelmed rural I owa. It is not a mystery.
What Dem candidates?
The media has been attacking lately and Fox News props up Fiorina daily ever since the son took over Fox from the old man. It is obvious the women on Fox are pushing Fiorina plus the hard core libs they have as guests seem to have orders from the DNC to push Fiorina too. I suspect the left knows they can beat Fiorina as Feinstein did it.
Note that Trump is a much better candidate than Romney and Romney had it down to three by Florida-- him, Newt and Santorum. He had it sewn up by mid-March, even though it took a handful of later primaries to win a clear majority of the delegates.
Oddly enough I don’t know anyone in Florida who likes Trump. I live near Orlando. I have spoken with roughly 50 GOP/conservative /libertarian friends and co-workers about our primary. No one wants Jeb! It’s divided between Cruz, Rubio and a couple for Paul and Carson.
They all like the effect Trump is having, but not one would vote for him.
The early states like IA, NH, NV, SC, will all see Trump win, but even if he loses one, the winner there won't have a chance of competing across the board. And Rubio and Yeb are NOT going to drop out before late spring.
That pretty much sums up my explanation for Trumps strength. People dont want another Bush and they see Trump as the only candidate capable of stopping him.
If Jeb got out... it would be a whole new ball game for the nomination.
Another non-story, IMO.
Trump’s not in a head-to-head campaign. That comes after he wins the nomination.
I like how the writer felt that he had to point out that Jeb is a Republican.
“It must kill Jeb not to have that place since he would be the front-runner today.”
I’m sure Jeb is dazed and confused at how this is turning out for him. After all, I expect Mommy has told him how wonderful he is forever. Why can’t everyone else recognize that?
The only poll that matters is the one that shows the current scenario. All other hypothetical matchups dont matter unless the conditions change to that particular reality. Its like worrying about what Ben Carson thinks about voting for a non-existing Muslim presidential candidate.
The voters will stick with Trump because if they don’t they’re pretty sure they won’t have a country anymore by next December.
Bush III.
Head to head match-ups are slightly more reliable at this stage in a campaign, but only slightly. The vast majority of caucus attendees have not (based on past data) picked their candidate until 2 weeks before the caucuses. Furthermore, a significant percentage indicated that their vote was heavily influenced by endorsements from in-state notables.
All that is to say that, in my semi-professional opinion, Trump has nothing to worry about right now BUT that he cannot rest on his laurels either. If (WHEN) Rep. King comes out and endorses Cruz, that will be a major shake-up in these numbers.
Wait... he is? ;)
First, the writer should understand that they are all Republicans. But, then again, what does the LIV know? Second, it's a moot point trying to run one against another. Third, it's fantastic that the other Republican, Bush, would lose. But, like I said, it's all moot!
If you listen to what ¡Yeb! says, he sounds like a Deomcrat in an R jersey, which is what he is.
