I thought the same thing. The Dems will pay him back well with a nice cushy job. With a driver.

I bet he was delirium tremors that he couldn’t control any longer. What a disgrace and a traitor to his electorate and to his oath.

Rep. Tim Huelskamp of Kansas said "it's time for new leadership,"

Thank you Mr. Huelskamp for being our rep and holding your ground. You opposed the liberal GOPe and voted against them and in turn, they took away your chairmanships, spent a lot of money to try to defeat you, brought in the DUmmies and Daily KOSmuninsts to try to influence the local social medias and the local medias slanted stories against you all during your last election but yet you prevailed.

Thanks again for holding your ground against the corruption going on in DC and all Kansans should be proud of you for doing the right thing. I will continue to support you and fight for you and continue to fight the corruption that has taken over our government, regardless of what party they belong to.

Up next, McConnell

Sincerely,

CGato

The speaker said he actually had planned to announce in November, on his birthday... But...

Because such a decision is, naturally, all about him.

pfft.

it shows the UniParty that they could be gone next year if Trump Effect continues to expose how deeply we despise the phonies killing our country. THAT is why I'm for Trump.

His lifelong teetotaling has left his mind clear and his health vigorous. I applaud him. It's the last thing you would have expected from a man of his privilege. A great example to young people never to take up drinking, cigarettes and drugs.

An opposition party is what it is SUPPOSED TO BE. It IS a lets get along and give in party. The Republicans DO understand that.

The MSM's official version is to speculate that Boehner lost his nerve because of anger from his own party's conservative wing towards his spinelessness. If only it were so and others would follow his example.

However, as you say, the more likely explanation is that some scandal (personal, financial, or political) is about the erupt and Boehner is trying to get out of the spotlight and do some pre-emptive damage control before things explode.

i've never understood why the GOPe continually elects to leadership positions men who are effeminate looking or who talk like the have marbles in their mouths or who are not photogenic. these things are subconsciously negative cues and undermine the messages they give on the TV sunday morning talk show circuit.

Dennis Hastert all over again.

GOPe picks sleazy, uninspiring leaders because GOPe has no inspiring message. In fact, they have no message at all, other than maintaining the status quo and some empty grumbling when it's a Democrat rather than one of them maintaining that status quo.
