Boehner Cut Deal With Pelosi to Avoid Government Shutdown
breitbart.com ^ | 9/25/15 | Michael Patrick Leahy

Sources tell Breitbart News that several members of the House of Representatives are saying “the rumor is Boehner cut a deal with Pelosi.”

According to those sources, outgoing House Speaker Rep. John Boehner and Minority Leader Rep. Nancy Pelosi agreed that her Democratic caucus would join Boehner along with a handful of Boehner loyalists and moderate establishment Republicans to continue Planned Parenthood funding, along with a few other budget items President Obama says were must-haves, in order to avoid a Government shutdown.

Boehner resigned because he knew that after he cut that deal, conservatives in his own party would be so furious with him that it would make challenges to his Speakership a certainty, sources say. Even if he survived those challenges, his remaining year and three months in office would be contentious and personally uncomfortable for him.

One source specifically said that the deal was limited to a continuing resolution that would last only until December 11.

Boehner’s last day as Speaker and member of the House of Representatives is slated for October 30.

Boehner reportedly knew that cutting such a deal to avoid a shutdown would result in a brutal battle with conservatives in his own party. He felt he could win challenges to his leadership mounted by conservatives in his own party, but thought it might do damage to the House and the Republican Party, sources say.

What is the bar to the House passing a budget, with everything except funding for PP? Does the budget need 60 votes in the Senate? If not, you can pass a budget and avoid a shutdown (a bad idea, as a shutdown is just what the Dems want) and cut PP out in the process.

Let BHO veto the budget without PP and let him take the heat for a change.

Why are we funding PP in the first place?

Need a Speaker who will stand up and say very clearly “we gave BHO EVERYTHING he wanted, except this single narrow atrocity - is selling baby parts _so_important_ that BHO is willing to shut down the government to get it? well I say if the government _does_ fund such atrocities it _deserves_ shutdown!”

Instead we get someone who mumbles and takes the blame, giving way after a few mean words.

Agreed. I think it just points to the “disconnect” between “we the people” and Congress. They have become their own unique entity that swirls around itself playing “let’s make a deal”, completely cut off from the people.

BOEHNER IS THE ONE WHO INITIALLY INVITED THE POPE TO COME TO AMERICA!!!!

Boehner had intended on retiring at the end of 2014. But once he heard the Pope was coming to DC he DELAYED HIS RETIREMENT JUST SO HE COULD MEET THE POPE then retired the next day.

My God is that self-serving or WHAT?

the drunk caddie boy cuts a deal with the whore Nancy D’Alessandro (her daddy the thug mayor of Baltimore, remember) Pelosi (who is several chips short of a sack of chips)... what could go wrong.

“We can’t shut down the govt.” It shuts down every weekend by and large. Shut down everything that is closed on weekends— and save billions per day in so doing.

19 Trillion in national debt— a fixed amount since March 2015. Remember that number- we are literally spent to oblivion to “appease” a dictator illegal executive and his gang of thugs, to destroy this country. Cry our Beloved Country.

Patriots, Rise!!

Good riddance, Boehner. Your judgment awaits, and it’s not our job (or ability) to invoke it. I hope you’re forgotten as quickly as you deserve.

CNN is covering, FINALLY, Boehner’s statement. Can’t determine if he will appear on camera. Yes, they report he will be making remarks, shortly, and take questions.

McConnell just bragged, heroically, about Boehner withstanding challenges in “his” party. I thought that sounded very odd.

Is it not the same party as McConnell’s party? Why not say challenges in “OUR” party.

That IS an odd statement, from Midge. Freudian slip?

“His” party?

Where does that leave Midge...which party? (I think we know!)

Never in my life have I thought there was any chance, any at all, of shutting down the US gov’t over funding to a non-profit, but PRIVATE organization. This isn’t like not funding the Commerce or State Department, after all.

If we’re so far gone that the gov’t can no longer shut down GRANTS, rather than official gov’t departments without a fight, we are further down the craphole than we even know.
