Ben Carson has surged into a statistical dead heat with Donald Trump in the race for the 2016 GOP nomination, a new poll shows.
According to an NBC/Wall Street Journal poll released Sunday, Trump still leads the race, with the support of 21% of Republican primary voters across the U.S., but Carson follows with 20% — well within the poll’s 6-percentage-point margin of error.
Just weeks ago, Trump was still the clear front-runner but Carson has been steadily gaining on him since Trump’s average performance in the second Republican debate earlier this month.
And just one month ago, in the July NBC/Wall Street Journal poll, Carson attracted only 10% support, compared with Trump’s 19%.
In the latest poll, former tech exec Carly Fiorina and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio tied for third, both getting 11% support, while former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush came in fourth with 7%.
Ohio Gov. John Kasich and Texas Sen. Ted Cruz followed with 6% and 5%, respectively, while no other candidate received more than 3% support.
Meanwhile, NBC/Wall Street Journal polling of the Democratic candidates, also released Sunday, showed their race for the nomination tightening too.

This is definitely true. He has very clearly drawn the line painting himself on the side of “ we have to get rid of politicians as usual” vs everyone els as those politicians.
It takes ALOT of money to be a successful candidate. Carson has NO such financial foundation. He will be for sale.....

Carson sounds like he writes his own prescriptions. He mumbles and talks sloooowww. His flip flops on amnesty is a no go.

My question is did He vote for OBAMA????? That would tell us tons about His Character, and nobody knows are wants to say.
Now he’s going to have to hire honest pollsters to fight these manufactured polls.
The minute he starts to worry about the propaganda industry he has lost my confidence. However, I don’t expect to lose my confidence because he suddenly became a political zombie and danced to the tune of Fox, NBC, ABC, CBS, CNN and all of the other communist/socialist “so called” news outlets.

In January for timing, Trump should do a very in-depth that he’s going to change Washington speech, and he should highlight the enormous efforts by cooperate entities and DC establishment that is totally arrayed against him. He has the big gravitas to put this thing away and in the bag for sure if he carries it off correctly.
Bush looks like the energizer bunny next to Carson. He’s a good man and an accomplished man - but president? NO!
Are you ready to give up your right to have a gun? Carson says people in urban areas should not have guns. Only those who live out in the country should be able to own guns. Of course he'd have guns and his body guards would have them - but not you.
It looks like the more people they poll -the better Trump’s numbers are. So, the secret is in polling fewer people to get a lower average??

This poll is probably right, but one has to look at the low number of people polled and demographics. Are there internals listed? I’m a Trump/Cruz supporter, and wish that Trump would stop citing and bragging about the polls in every interview and at every rally. It bugs me - I’m not a worshipper of any candidate - they all have their warts - and that includes Mr. Trump.
Could be a bump from his comment about a possible Mohammedan president.
Trump's campaign took off because of his comments on illegal immigration.
The difference is that Trump can do something about illegal immigration - having to nominate and vote for a Muslim isn’t even in the cards right now.
