Why some scientists are worried about a surprisingly cold ‘blob’ in the North Atlantic
washingtonpost ^ | 24 Sept 2015 | By Chris Mooney

It is, for our home planet, an extremely warm year.

Indeed, last week we learned from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration that the first eight months of 2015 were the hottest such stretch yet recorded for the globe’s surface land and oceans, based on temperature records going back to 1880. It’s just the latest evidence that we are, indeed, on course for a record-breaking warm year in 2015.

Yet, if you look closely, there’s one part of the planet that is bucking the trend. In the North Atlantic Ocean south of Greenland and Iceland, the ocean surface has seen very cold temperatures for the past eight months:

What’s up with that?

(snip)

At this point, it’s time to ask what the heck is going on here. And while there may not yet be any scientific consensus on the matter, at least some scientists suspect that the cooling seen in these maps is no fluke but, rather, part of a process that has been long feared by climate researchers — the slowing of Atlantic Ocean circulation...

Did you notice on their temperature map both the Arctic and Antarctic are not shown.

Me too! Haha, I bought and play that song for my kids. The famous theater is not far from me. Every summer they have a Blobfest "" where they re-enact the running out of the theater. http://thecolonialtheatre.com/programs/blobfest-2015-runout/

The NOAA temperatures are all super-cooked now. NOAA juiced the ocean temperature using data all the other liberal science groups said was unreliable and erred artificially high.

This article is pure BS.

Add the NOAA to the list of departments to defund and obliterate. I pray our military doesn’t use their predictions or readings for anything.

When a supposedly sobering article (in the WaPo, no less) includes the phrase, "What's up with that?", I pretty much ignore it. And every year the media pronounces it the "warmest ever", yet we have had no warming for about 20 years, now (and probably never did have any to begin with).

Love the words to “The Blob”.

Could be used to describe Gov. Chrispy Cream of NJ or the old Al Sharpton.

With all due respect for your knowledge, I think the original machine had a base plate of pre-famulated amulite surmounted by a malleable logarithmic casing in such a way that the two spurving bearings were in a direct line with the panametric fan. The latter consisted simply of six hydrocoptic marzlevanes, so fitted to the ambifacient lunar waneshaft that side fumbling was effectively prevented. The main winding was of the normal lotus-o-delta type placed in panendermic semi-boloid slots of the stator, every seventh conductor being connected by a non-reversible tremie pipe to the differential girdle spring on the “up” end of the grammeters.

But your conclusion is correct nevertheless. It is Bush’s fault.

*** “Hottest? I think we had the mildest summer I can remember in a while for S Texas. We had very few over 100 day streaks” ***

I didn’t even turn the AC on this year, no joke.

It is now warmer than it has ever been before being warmer than ever before the warming.
