Veteran newsman Dan Rather says Donald Trump could be headed to the White House.
"I don't think it's outside the realm of possibility he gets elected," Rather, former "60 Minutes" correspondent and "CBS Evening News" anchor, told The Hollywood Reporter.
"I said in the beginning he's not going to go away quickly. He isn't going to be the shooting star that goes away.
"Because whatever else you think of Donald Trump, he is smart, he's very television smart. Donald Trump certainly has a good shot at the nomination.
But Rather believes Trump must provide many more details on his ambitious policies.
The principle question for Trump is, how is he going to handle foreign policy? Because he doesn't have great experience in foreign policy," he said.
"So I think the key question is give me the names of specific people that you will call upon for foreign policy."
As well, Rather said, he needs to expand on his idea of ridding the United States of all illegal immigrants.
"He wants to send all of them back to Mexico and other places
but how specifically does he intend to do that? With 10, 12 million people, how's he going to find them?"

Obama never provided any details. Why should Trump be expected to provide details?
[”I don’t think it’s outside the realm of possibility he gets elected,”]
I think he has found the right frequency.
“The principle question for Trump is, how is he going to handle foreign policy? Because he doesn’t have great experience in foreign policy”.
But this didn’t bother Rather when he pulled the level for Bathhouse Barry.
Why?
There are how many other candidates in this race, and what details have any of them provided other than Trump? All I hear are talking points. These media hacks make me tired. Donald has laid plans, which he has said are subject to review. That’s what every good business person does - set your goals and then work toward them, tweaking them as necessary.
You are correct.
Good picture.
and, in another slap to 1/2 the country, watch for that Dan Rather/Redford movie to win best picture at Oscar time..
I swear to God, I can see that happening.
Why?
Because even disgraced newsmen are newsworthy when they talk about Trump.;-)
“Exploding heads” - I am reminded of the custom of Punkin Chunkin’, in which excess numbers of leftover Halloween pumpkins are flung into the air by various kinds of cannons and catapults, both for distance and just generally making a mess in a particular target area.
Watching the end of the trajectory is sort of spectacular. Even duct tape would not hold that together.
Trump will start by blasting Rather into smithereens!
The principle question for Trump is, how is he going to handle foreign policy? Because he doesn’t have great experience in foreign policy,”

Like Obama did?
Start with the ones cleaning Danny’s pool, cutting his grass and changing his diapers.
Isn’t dan rather a liar?
but they cannot get enough of him, give him another chance?
“With 10, 12 million people, how’s he going to find them?”
Let’s see...
Check the welfare rolls
Check the DMV’s for their licenses
Check subsidized housing rolls
Check the school enrollments
Check the college enrollments
Check the the police (local, state & fed) booking sheets
Start with those, then we can come up with more.
Mark Cuban has kept Rather employed on his cable network ever since CBS was forced to give him the heave-ho.
funny because foreign policy is one of the few things I would not be worried about with a Trump presidency.
I have 100% confidence in Trumps ability to negotiate favorable deals for the US as president.
No doubt.
Trump enters every discussion in a position of leverage.
Just like Caliph Baraq enters in a position of deference.
Okay, but what about getting the views of a journalist?
