Republican presidential candidates Donald Trump and Ben Carson are threatening to boycott the next GOP debate over its proposed format, underscoring a rare political alliance between the leading outsider candidates. In a joint letter to CNBC's Washington bureau chief Thursday, the billionaire businessman and retired neurosurgeon told the hosting network they will not appear at the Oct. 28 debate unless it's capped at two hours with commercials and the candidates are allowed to speak directly to the camera at its opening and close.

A very smart common sense move.

The most important part being being their request to speak directly to the camera before and after, instead of having the repulsive, condescending schoolmarm moderators snarking and framing the entire experience for the audience.

Another Seventh-Day-Adventist hit. For those who support Ted Cruz, perhaps they should take the time to check out the person who will have Ted’s ear, the person Ted trusts the utmost. That would be his wife. Do look at her upbringing/background, beyond Goldman Sachs......

Great! Let them sit this one out if they are too weak to put in a 3 hour work day.

Maybe one of the other candidates will exhibit more energy, and we won’t find him/her spending all his/her time on the golf course or flying around on AF1.

I agree with you. If Mr. Trump and Mr. Carson cannot handle a long debate, then let them stay home.

If Trump stays home nobody would watch it, and he knows it. So does CNBC, which is why they caved.

Trump Derangement Syndrome is treatable. Get help.

True but both are old and it is difficult for older people to stand that long. It is not good for them either due to blood clots. Heck Trump is soon to be 70 and Carson is looking at Social Security next year. They both deserve to have it easier due to their very advanced age.

I did think that. I also noted that Cruz never went after The Donald. Now I’m thinking that it could be Trump/Carson, because of Carson’s standing in the polls - it really looks like it’s the outsiders.

Fun to watch.

I cannot get over and con man in a suit playing the crowd. I will not vote for Trump...ever. I will say the same thing to family and friends. Trump is not a conservative, he is whatever fits the situation. If leaning left helps him, he will lean left. The man HAS NO bedrock values except himself and promoting himself.
