Because the constitution still matters.
But could Cruz win? I dont think so. He might well carry all or most of the 22 states that McCain carried in 2008, and if the Democratic nominee is damaged badly enough and Barack Obamas standing in national polls low enough, I suppose it might be possible that he could win.
The leadership we have right now is crap.
We MUST win the election this time. Think of the next supreme court justice (s) the Hildabeast would appoint.
Cruz is a good man and a real conservative.
But I don’t think he can win enough of the swing states.
It’s got to be Trump.
So we can get more H1-B visa holders to displace American workers.
This guy is a SENATOR!
No thanks.
Their big thing would be that everyone in Congress hates Cruz and he could never work with them. They’d hammer that til election day and it’s partially true.
I know, for good reasons, just saying.
Number 2. Screw the GOPe. Why would we WE want to desert Trump, the winner we already have, even for Cruz, who will be a better fit for from 4 to 8 years, somewhere else? And even if we did that, why would we saddle him with Jindal?
And Number 1. We already have it halfway in the bag with Trump. What insanity would cause us to toss THAT aside?
No thanks. We don’t need any free advice from the democRATS. Judging by the surnames of the writers, that’s probably where THEY come from; if not from the RINOs.
Too funny to see some people’s thinking:
“I’m not voting for Romney, he is not conservative enough”.
“I’m not voting for Cruz, he is too conservative.”
When Cruz ran for senate in Texas we heard all of these same arguments. Yet he surprised everyone and won, beating RINO Dewhurst in the GOP runoff and whipping the dem in the general.
I’m sure this genius also told us that the Dems would hold the Senate in 2014 because of Tea party, yada yada yada, government shutdown, blah blah blah.
You can expect this from Rothenberg. What’s discouraging is the number of posts on this forum that agree.
Yeah we need a moderate to win swing states lie OH, PA etc. worked well in ‘08 and ‘12
He would not win. Most Americans have had their brains palinized against him. He will win after serving as veep and everything that comes out of his mouth is right on for four years.
Cruz needs Rubio as VP to pick-up Florida support.
It will still be Cruz policy that carries the day, so get off of the “but Marco’s a .....”
The objective is to broaden national support and Electoral votes....AND WIN!
Cruz can’t seem to make significant headway in this very straightforward primary with some dreadfully weak competitors. He hasn’t put a foot wrong but still seems to be moonwalking.
Trump is on the money on a few things. He has gotten it right on very few things, but he is convincing that he could and would move the ball on those few things. They happen to be important things. That’s it. That is what he’s got. That is more than anyone else, and that is why he is ahead.
If Cruz is going to prove his ability to win, it had better be soon. I wish he would. The idea gruel is rather thin in this election.
So Rothenberg wants Cruz to be nominated so that the Party goes down in the Senate and we get Shrillary as POTUS - all to prove the his point that conservatives are evil and/or stupid...so that the GOPe can forever point to the 2016 election and say, “You have to do what WE say, look at the results!”
Phuck that noise! THIS is why Trump is even a candidate, let alone leading, because of self-interested jackasses like Rothenberg. THIS is why I want Trump to win (and take Cruz as Veep or AG), because he doesn’t need the GOPe for anything, and he’ll destroy it.
First the internal enemies (the most dangerous kind), then the external ones (the Dems/Leftists/Traitors).
But there are no signs of a dramatic rebound for the party, and the chance of Republicans winning control of either chamber in the 2010 midterm elections is zero. Not close to zero. Not slight or small. Zero.
