The FBI’s headquarters is falling apart. Why is it so hard for America to build a new one?

They want a new building, and the old one falling apart will justify that. And they won’t name the new one after Hoover (thus getting rid of that problem, also).

Maybe it will be the Eric Holder Towers, or something...

DC has been seeing the biggest explosion of new Gubmint buildings in history.

If the FBI wasn’t on the short list, trot your jack-booted asses down to 1600 Pennsylvania and ask the funny looking mulatto guy with big ears why.

That’s how I read it, too. All those cover-ups, payoffs, bribes, and tailing domestic NRA terrorists costs a heck of a lot of money.

They have a really nice, new complex in West Virginia. Just move everyone who will fit there, and put all the rest of the folks out in the field offices. They even have room to expand if they put in some parking decks.

As an alternative, they could take over a dead mall somewhere. That would give them about the right amount of square footage.

Why not build the new HQ in Quantico and use the current as a satellite office.

A metaphor for the current state of fedgov.

Personally all fedgov - ALL - Needs total dismantling and a new smaller constitutionally limited foundation.

We have a community mailbox. It has not received any maintenance in 20 years and it is battered and rusted.

To me, this is a statement on our nation. The government is letting these little things go you have to wonder about things we can not see...

Why not just fix it instead of complaining? https://about.usps.com/postal-bulletin/2012/pb22334/html/updt_001.htm "Purchase, installation, and maintenance of mail receptacles are the responsibility of the customer." ... "The Postal Service may elect, under certain conditions, to purchase, install, and maintain curb-mounted mail receptacles or cluster box units."

I would add to the above, if the Postal Service has no money (which is true) then it ought not be paying for mail receptacles.

It is also full of Chinese bugs.

With evictions going on all over the world (homes in Germany, to make way for jihadists), why not just evict, say, the EPA or the Dept of Energy from their buildings and give it to the needy FBI?

Shut down the Departments of Energy, Education, and Commerce and the EPA and move them in there.

Strange, the Treasury Building down the street next to the White House was built in 1836 and is strong as a brick house. The FBI Building was built in what 1975, with technology and materials that were 140 years newer and IT is the building that is falling apart??

Many (most?) of us maintain our own mailboxes. Why should you be any different?

Or are you talking a drop box to send something out?

Most of those have disappeared around here, other than in front of the post office.

Martin O’Malley didn’t have enough clout or bribe money to get the new FBI building for Maryland.

Oh, the actual building. I thought they were talking about how badly it’s run internally. Can’t even convict criminals these days.

Say what you want about Hoover, beats this political toy hiding behind law enforcement.

Neighborhood mailboxes - about 20 homes for one box. Owned and maintained (or not) by the post office.

It’s worse. Most wouldn’t need to be replaced if they were properly maintained over the years. Instead they waste their maintenence budgets on lining their pockets and then come back for a new building later.

Some of these government buildings fall apart in 10 years.

It’s all a scam. When you are spending $4.5 trillion a year with two thirds of a trillion in deficit...every slimeball finds a way to skim some off.

No one really cares which is why it’s so difficult to change it.
