Your response # 1, you are overthinking it. Student is suspended and refuses to leave or comes back the next day, they are trespassing. Arrest them, throw them in juvenile detention or jail.

Oh it got their attention alright. Did you see the boy in the Red shirt? Head down not looking. He was thinking, “note to self: don’t mess with the po po.”

Let me be clear, I agree 100% with this officer needing to use force, I think this girl will think twice before ignoring him (or maybe any other school authority)

If she had learned this lesson at home she would not have had to learn it in school.

If he loses his job it will be the biggest travesty, and she will grow up to be worse.

If the girl had of done what she had been told to do, none of this would have happened. Why is that so hard to understand?

You assault a cop, all bets are off.....

The 'protected' class needs some pushback, HARD! Enough of this crap!

Lott also said that he doesn’t believe the incident was motivated by racism, pointing out that deputy Ben Fields has been romantically involved with a black woman for “quite some time.”

Per BLM, that makes him a slave-owner wannabe.

If they let her get away with that it will be bedlam in that school.

Now, because some idiot videotaped it, there is going to be total breakdown in high schools everywhere. The girl should literally be caned for absolutely refusing to obey an order from several levels of authority. Shouldn't have to bring in a deputy. A coach dragging here out would be fine.

“Not one was injured, correct? I think part of the problem was that the girl was hanging onto her desk to avoid being taken off of it.”

It appeared to me that he initially tried to lift her out of the desk and her thrashing caused the disk to rotate backwards.

Should the LEO lose his job over this, we will have more proof that we are Zimbabwe West. And, schools with problem Blacks will erupt.

...but the parents who regard school as free babysitting while they work are the first to fight about it...

Assuming that they "work" takes quite a leap of faith.

Why do I think she will more inclined to repeat her behavior? Especially after the payout the school district will make to assuage her (and her family’s) hurt feelings?

I am not too happy with the way he threw her around...

Get used to it! Create a no-win situation, and no one looks good. Unfortunately, it's the job of the schools and, sadly, the cops to deal with it. And it will get worse before it gets better.

Obie's "Just Us" Department is suing school districts, alleging civil rights violations based upon statistical outcomes. In the real world school districts are being forced to eliminate suspensions and attend "cultural sensitivity" training.

The problem, you see, is that all involved displayed insufficient cultural sensitivity. Telling authority figures to F#%K themselves is just the way it's done in their 'culture.'

And it's the rest of us that are expected to adapt.

1st Empty the room of all students. Only the teacher is allowed.

Wife brought this idea up. Deprive the girl of her audience. Only problem is some of her buds might refuse to go—she clearly had supporters in the room.

How about this—the officer and administrator pick up/drag the desk with her in it out of the room. They wouldn’t have to even touch her until they were in the hallway. Picking up the desk wouldn’t be violent unless she began to struggle, and then it would (or should) be all on her.

The idea that a student should be free to use her phone while in class and be free to refuse to stop when asked/ordered and then be free to refuse to leave when told by a teacher, administrator, and cop is, to me beyond the Pale. No matter what happens to the cop, she should be expelled.

If you take a look at the latest video, it’s clear that the officer did not use excessive force. She punched him, and she locked her leg around the leg of the table, causing it to flip. The student did this to herself, completely.

Your response # 1, you are overthinking it. Student is suspended and refuses to leave or comes back the next day, they are trespassing. Arrest them, throw them in juvenile detention or jail.

Part of the original comment suggested "firing all private police/security"; I agree that the belligerent students should have the law come down on them, but--have you ever tried dialing "911" in an urban area? It's hard enough to get an ambulance within 20 minutes for a life-threatening situation; if the 911 dispatcher hears that it's a belligerent kid refusing to leave their seat, expect the police to show up 30+ minutes later, if at all.

Also: I taught at an inner-city school with 4000 students, with gang fights during virtually every passing period (usually just fistfight/scuffles, and not usually weapons), and the "I ain't leavin' my desk, an' you can't make me!" situation happened DOZENS of times per day. Calling the city police (much less the county sheriff) for every such incident would be impractical, even if they were completely efficient (which they aren't). There simply have to be "boots on the ground" to get anything done at all (we had 25 security guards and 1 full-time, armed cop).

:) Point taken. But the principle still holds for parents who want to watch TV (or go to bars, or sleep, etc.) without their young'uns underfoot and arguing with them.

***The teacher then brought in a school administrator, who asked the girl several times to leave the classroom.***

I noticed in the video that there was a well dressed black man in the room. Was this the teacher or the administrator?

As for the way the officer treated the girl, I’ve known several teachers who would slap a misbehaving student so hard they would have to walk sideways for a week, and another who picked up a piece of firewood and challenged the unruly students to take her on. there were no takers and she never had another problem.

People don’t realize that teachers routinely face threats of violence and assault in the classroom. Even assaults are not uncommon.

Bring in the cameras, it would shock people.
