Um, technical question here:
How exactly does one get a “full scholarship” to West Point or the other military academies?
I thought all cadets there had everything covered, courtesy of DoD and the American taxpayer?
The real problem was not just the distortion by Politico but the poor wording (and then susequent failure to add an explanation to) Carson’s written work. Carson should have in an explanatory note said “Being a young man who didn’t understand how West Point worked, I thought going ‘free’ meant a scholarship.” That would, unfortunately raise the question of why an ROTC student who was cited for his performance wouldn’t know that about West Point. Not a big deal, but a minor concern.
OK so in the book he says he was offered an appointment to West Point and turned it down. His campaign said he was offered the chance to apply for an appointment and decided not to. You don’t see the disconnect between those two?
No. Carson says he was offered an appointment and turned it down. The only way he could get an appointment to turn down would be if completed the application.
But on a different note, what it is about Carson that makes you think he's the best choice for president?
Oh no!!! You mean they reported that he said that semi-automatic weapons shouldn't be allowed in other that rural areas? Next their going to report that he said the pyramids were grain elevators. And people on FR are believing it. Tsk, tsk.
Snicker! :-)
He never said he was admitted to to a U. S. Service Academy . Good grief . It seems people are just reading headlines and not the body of the story .
Are you even really reading what's being said? Carson never stated in his book that he applied. The quote from the book is all over and it does NOT say what Polutico states.
From Polutico:
When presented by POLITICO with these facts, Carson's campaign conceded he never applied.
"Dr. Carson was the top ROTC student in the City of Detroit," campaign manager Barry Bennett wrote in an email to POLITICO. "In that role he was invited to meet General Westmoreland. He believes it was at a banquet. He can't remember with specificity their brief conversation but it centered around Dr. Carson's performance as ROTC City Executive Officer."
"He was introduced to folks from West Point by his ROTC Supervisors," Bennett added. "They told him they could help him get an appointment based on his grades and performance in ROTC. He considered it but in the end did not seek admission."
Sharon Bialek was proven to be a liar IIRC.
I like Trump, but I don’t think he is a conservative.
Cruz is my guy.
You’re welcome.
My wife and I differ about this. She thinks Cain is guilty.
I have listened to Cain for years. He impresses me as someone who knows God.
At work last year, a coworker (who used to be a friend) levied an accusation against me personally, misinterpreting something I had said. Even though it was totally false and she admitted to misinterpreting what I had said, I was punished. If you are white and male, there is no appeal. In certain cases, if you are black and male and conservative, same thing.
It sucks and I hate smear campaigns like you can’t believe.
FReegards. ‘Pod.
Bless you, sir, for what you have had to put up with. Yes, indeed, there is a war in America and Europe against white males - the men who have created western civilization, the Enlightenment and every other boon to mankind. And when they did wrong? It was their descendents who fought to amend it!
Cain was simply a man. He ran an interesting, witty campaign - much like Trump - but started to worry leftists and rinos and so had to be destroyed. This also happened to the Divine Sarah was when she dared to present as a beautiful, sexy, smart female Republican.
She can’t. All she can present is stupid articles from The Daily Fail - the English equivalent of the Enquirer - once right in a lifetime.
Yep, it’s disgraceful that many FReepers choose to side with known liars.
an enemy with an ego has gone berserk posting this crap
