WHITE PLAINS - Officials at Simon Malls are rolling back their new space-age Santa display at the Westchester Mall in White Plains.

Its new, space-aged Santa display upset many shoppers earlier this week. Instead of elves, reindeer and a tree, the display flanked Santa with fake glaciers.

In a statement earlier in the week, mall management had said elements would be added, including a traditional Christmas tree.

Same is happening in Charlotte at Southpark Mall. Santa is in a big, ugly egg shaped thing with nary a Christmas tree in sight in the entire mall.

The local villagers are ready to riot over this. I heard tar, feathers and torches are on back order...

I don't see what the problem is.

Santa lives in the North Pole, or on it. Santa has nothing to do with Christmas. Santa cannot be the Three wise men because they didn't come down a chimney.

Jesus was not born on ice surrounded by polar bears. Christmas is Jesus' birthday, a date set by man. It's two events merged into one Holiday.

Whatever happened to Saint Nick?

I cant remember the last time I voluntarily set foot in a mall.

This seems to imply you've been taken there involuntarily.

Oh wow, as if when righteousness and evil go toe to toe on the same territory, evil must win because it is the polluting factor? So we have to hem righteousness into its own rubber room?

What an unmighty “God” you serve.

Drinking or smoking?

Whatever it is, you are off on another irrelevant tangent.

The most beautiful nativity scene I’ve ever seen is at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in NYC. Every year they display an eighteenth century Neapolitan Nativity set beneath a beautifully decorated Christmas tree. They have recorded Baroque music playing in a room with outrageous acoustics and beautiful lighting...

It’s breathtaking.

Juxtapose with Leslie Wexner a huge apparel retailer or Bloomingdales or Neimans or even Bergdorfs unless it’s changed

All Jewish just like Simons but they celebrate Christmas because they know it’s smart and good manners

I lived in Manhattan

Midtown Manhattan is arguably the most Jewish place on earth besides the Western Wall and yet at Christmas in the 80s all of the stores of which they owned most it was the most Christmas feeling place imaginable especially if it snowed

I don’t know if the Simons are a sign of the times or just jackasses

Do the glaciers melt on the hour and reveal drowning polar bears?

This has to be the most idiotic move a company can make in that industry, at a time when traditional shopping malls are facing such stiff competition from online retailing.

Santa has nothing to do with Christmas.

And glaciers do?

Santa and egg nog aren't mentioned in the Bible. So what?
