Sowell: The Ben Carson Flaps
Creators Syndicate ^ | November 10, 2015 | Thomas Sowell

Posted on 11/09/2015 9:59:52 AM PST by jazusamo

Dr. Ben Carson's whole life has been very unusual, so perhaps we should not be surprised to see the latest twist -- the media going ballistic over discrepancies in a few things he said.

Years ago, when I was writing some autobiographical sketches, I dug up old letters, to check out things that I remembered -- and was surprised more than once to discover that my memory was not always exactly the same as the way things had happened and were recorded at the time.

In the current flap over some things that Dr. Carson said, the biggest discrepancy has been between the furor in the media and the irrelevance of his statements to any political issue.

For example, in a video that someone dug up, Dr. Carson said to an audience that his "theory" about the Pyramids is that they were used as storage facilities. He was smiling as he said this, so it is not clear whether he was using this theory just to illustrate some point. But, in any case, he was not claiming this as a fact.

More important, the Pyramids are not an issue in today's American political campaign, except as a "gotcha" gimmick.

Yet the media have paid far more attention to Ben Carson's speculation about what the Pyramids were built for, thousands of years ago, than to outright lies that Hillary Clinton told about tragic American deaths in Benghazi, within days after she knew the truth, as her own e-mails now reveal.

Another media tempest in a teapot has developed because of the mild-mannered Dr. Carson's recollections about some childhood incidents in which he depicted himself as violent toward another child...

The flimsy basis for the current attacks only demonstrates the media's bias and desperation.

I remember the media decrying the politics of personal destruction whenever Clinton was accused of misbehavior. It's his personal business they said. He has a mind which is capable of compartmentalizing they said. What difference does it make? they said.

Now they are impartial journalist, just doing their job.

The press tries to eliminate Reason and elevate emotions, so that they control the narrative and “thinking” (lol) of the masses. AS Solzhenitsyn stated in 78, the American “free” press is worse than Pravda.

Thomas Sowell is classically educated—has Common Sense of the Founders and their Virtue-—the type of Virtue which creates Free Republics.

We need his intellect and wisdom and courage today more than ever. There are too few mature masculine males like him today. Virtue is learned and habituated and our toxic culture is working 24/7 to destroy Virtue formation in our children. We need to take back our schools and the culture-—and not let the toxic evil corrupt the children which requires innocence and classical education (original source/Real Life human interactions in the Natural Family which doesn’t warp Reality and Design of God).

The Press should promote Truth always-—but it now hides truth and tears down the Good, and promotes Vice 24/7 . The Press is part of the NWO satanic sodomite Hollywood-boy-raping, Epstein cabal and people like CARSON and SOWELL make them go absolutely wild with rage.

Only Truth sets us Free.

I don’t believe anything about what the drivebys say about anyone. I really don’t. Even if they manage to get a real fact out there I wouldn’t give them any more credit than I would give credit to a criminal who robs only one person rather than two.

I mostly overlook what the candidates themselves say about it so long as it is not too severe. What I was referring to was the way supporters from, say, camp Trump pile on Carson, or vice versa.

Whichever camp we are in during the primaries, we should have each others’ back against liberal media attacks. If we are opportunists and treat these attacks as valid, using them even, then who will come to our defense when it is our turn?

I may not be explaining this that well. I just think conservatives should unite against the lying, cheating, double-standard media. As Sowell pointed out, they overlook big offenses by leftist candidates while they nit pick over stupid, irrelevant stuff against conservatives. We should not aid them just because we think we can gain temporary advantage. In the long run we all lose that way.

Trump ca be sloppy. ut he eventually gets it right.

Ted Cruz is the same and I imagine Ben Carson can be similar.

I look at Donald Trump as Babe Ruth at the plate. Everyone expects a home run. Then he swings and misses and the media is so happy. He swings and misses again and they say he’s going down while they dance in the aisles. And then, BOOM over the fence. And the media bastards and their lemmings gnash their teeth.

But that’s not the point. The point is that Donald Trump is what America needs right now, a forceful charismatic fighter who will do what’s right for America.

Sowell’s whine will be forgotten within 24 hours.

So another whiny blog post about how unfair the press is?

As if WE DONT KNOW!

This is why to beat the snot out of them like Trump does, or else this is what they will do to you.

I suggest people on the right understand this because many of us would like to see a us be on the offensive against these people, and not spend time generating “how dare you” articles for months on end.

Sure, Trump has been excoriated (mostly by the establishment wing of the
GOP) and ridiculed by members of the MSM but just like Justice Clarence Thomas, he MUST be destroyed by liberal plantation owners (democRAT “leaders,” MSM, Hollywierd, race hustlers like Jesse and Al and progressives/Communist members in academia) as they cannot be permitted to succeed, especially in public, lest they become role models to their minority youth!

The only two people in the article (well, three if you count Albert Einstein and the heavy object he threw at his sister) used to compare how much or little scrutiny the press has given the veracity of their personal reminiscences are Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama. No mention of your hero anywhere. But the fact that his only involvement in this attempt to Dan Rather Dr. Carson has been to pile on didn’t escape my notice. If Trump spent as much time attacking Democrats as he does his (supposed) fellow Republicans his bubblicious poll numbers might be even more inflated.

Its got to be Trump/Cruz or nothing- he would not settle for second place.

And we would be stupid NOT TO take advantage of the enormous effect Trump is having.

He will have YUGE coat tails and sweep many Republicans into office with him.

I love Cruz, I would rather see him as President, but 2nd place and a possible 16 continuous years would be nice.

I have been a Cruz donor and supporter throughout, although Trump is probably my 2nd choice. My relegating Carson to 3rd or 4th place was due to his style more than substance. There would be substantial reasons based on the issues to give him a hard time...the same with Trump.

And to be honest, Cruz hasn’t been perfect.

But, all things said and done, I’ll vote for any outsider over the establishment choice.

“I don’t believe anything about what the drivebys say about anyone. I really don’t. “

same here.

As for Carson, I wish to heck he never showed up in the first place. He is not a conservative, and dangerously uninformed. Reminds me of Mr. Smith, only far worse.

The formal definition of “Hero” is below.

1. A person of distinguished courage or ability, admired for his brave deeds and noble qualities.

Through his work as a leading pediatric neurosurgeon Dr. Carson has displayed incredible ability by virtue of opening the skulls of infants and children and and manipulating his scalpel and other advanced medical technologies, to save and improve the lives of medically at risk children. He has displayed incredible courage by pioneering various surgical procedures that resulted in positive outcomes for patients, when none had previously existed. His motivation, while not immediately known, would seem to have risen from a noble desire to have a career that would deliver maximum benefit to others.

2. A person who, in the opinion of others, has heroic qualities or has performed a heroic act and is regarded as a model or ideal. For example, “He was a local hero when he saved the drowning child.”

Dr. Carson also meets this definition. Many many people have great admiration for and regard Mr. Carson as a role model because of the service he has performed and the benefit that he has rendered. In addition, Mr Carson is an inspiration to all of us, demonstrating great courage in overcoming institutional racism as well as the disadvantages of his impoverished life.

In other words, he started from a lower place then most and ended up at a higher place then most, and in the process he saved the lives of many children.

Now that's a HERO!

Trump has consistently and frequently criticized democrats including Hillary.

In case you didn’t notice, this is primary season where primary candidates run for the nomination. It is entirely expected that candidates ‘pile on’ each other. What matters is not so much what is said and whether tis true, but how the recipient responds and reacts because a person in the White House is going to be facing the same crap everyday 24/7.

So Carson and the rest along with their crybaby media minions can sob all the way to Super Tuesday about how unfair life is but it won’t matter if they don’t demonstrate how to handle it.

Carson is the ‘bubblicious’ one here.

the $hit-eating local rag had a “cartoon” of Carson with a pyramid-shaped hat. The left has finally found someone who it can hate more than Sarah Palin.
G*d damn the leftist media to an eternity of burning in hell.
