Leading Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson believes that federal and state official overreacted in the case of Terri Schiavo, a Florida woman who died in 2005 as her husband and family battled over whether to keep her alive despite her vegetative state.
The case roiled the state of Florida and sparked an emotional national debate about the ethics, politics and spiritual significance of her life and death.

After speaking at a Republican Party conference here on Friday, a reporter asked Carson what he thought of the infamous case -- one that Bush speaks about occasionally as he mounts his own presidential campaign.
"We face those kinds of issues all the time and while I don't believe in euthanasia, you have to recognize that people that are in that condition do have a series of medical problems that occur that will take them out," he said. "Your job [as a doctor] is to keep them comfortable throughout that process and not to treat everything that comes up."

Unfortunately, he’s correct, docs do face this every day and they cannot go on forever keeping people alive artificially. Nonetheless, it will kill him politically with his biggest constituent group.

Terry Schiavo was injured under very suspicious circumstances at a very young age. Husband should have been a suspect rather than be allowed to determine her care. Sorry, I disagree...Terri’s case is up for “discussion” anytime, anywhere. She was murdered by State decree, if you cannot see that, then we have nothing further to share.

But you can count every major candidate, regardless of party, has some lackey monitoring this place just to find out what the true conservative opinions are.
For example, if the dems and GOPe see we are unhappy with them, then they know they are doing something right.

-—Well, speaking as a Hospice Nurse, Nurse Practitioner, and owner of a Hospice agency, yes, some people do elect to withhold medications because at the end of life routine Meds aren’t going to result in anything but more side effects. BUT, that decision is VERBALIZED by that patient, or via family member executing a Living Will. They are not ever, in ANY circumstance, not given adequate care and support if not verbalized by patient, or Living Will is in place. Don’t you dare try to equate Hospice Care with mercy killing, or what was done to Terri Schiavo

Thank you! Recently went through situation with Palliative care nurse practitioner telling me my step mom only had one year to live and I should put her in hospice, despite FACT no medical doctor caring for her had stated any such thing! I posted complaint on hospital blog and her supervisor was in my SM room the next day apologizing for this young woman’s actions. Also assured me that this so called young nurse had no place in denigrating the actions of my SM Doctor. The young woman told me that doctors are not as aware as she, they do not treat the whole person, but concentrate only on their specialty. Head of palliative care at the hospital assured me this nurse was removed from duty and mandated to attend further training.
It was really quite surreal listening to this nurse as she told me I needed to let my SM just suffer death from pneumonia or whatever and give her pain killers...I did ask her if she was the death squad for Obama....upset her...in between the two personal phone calls she took while telling me to kill off my step mom.
No one has the right to do what was done to this young woman!
Something I just remembered:
Terry had the tubes removed once prior, but a court ordered a reprieve and they were reinserted. Whenever the possibility of their being removed again came up, she showed deep fear. She understood what was spoken and remembered her suffering during that occasion.
That poor little lamb.
I think of the scene from the old movie “The Hunchback of Notre Dame,” in which Charles Laughton swings down on a rope to scoop up Maureen O'Hara thus saving her from the noose. He stands high up on the church holding the fainted Maureen over his head and yells, “Sanctuary! Sanctuary!”
Jeb owed it to God and to Terry to perform a morally equivalent feat, and he ended up being a Pontius Pilat.

Terri Schiavo was the line in the sand that this culture crossed in 2005.
It has never recovered.
And Jeb Bush was the squish that let it happen.
And Jeb’s brother and the whole GOP fell over themselves doing nothing as well.
As for Ben Carson, gifted hands?

I hope Trump stays on this and eases up on Carson. The libs think Carson is a joke. They are afraid of Trump.
I have the awful feeling we're going to get sucked into another war whether we want it or not. And the first Syrian refugees are here. They are scattering them around, a few here, a few there, all over the country.
If they put too many in one place and the people know they are coming, they might put up a fight. But it is too late, I fear. And our sellout churches are sponsoring it all. Must be something in it for them. They will never convert. They are doing the Devil's work here by resettling Muslims.
