Issues statement on terrorist attacks in Paris
HOUSTON, Texas — Presidential candidate Ted Cruz issued the following statement in response to the terrorist attacks in Paris:
“America must stand with our allies against the scourge of radical Islamic terrorism. This is an evil that does not discriminate between French, German or American, Christian, Muslim or Jew, soldier, football player, or concert goer. Their only goal is to murder those who do not submit to their vicious, totalitarian ideology. Our deepest condolences go out to our French allies, and I know the government of the United States stands by to offer any assistance necessary.
“We must now face the facts. Between the downing of the Russian jet over Egypt and this massive coordinated attack on Paris, we are seeing an unmistakable escalation of ISIS' ambitions and the scale of their terrorist attacks outside Syria and Iraq. Even as chaos rages in Paris, we need to take immediate, commonsense steps to preserve our own safety. We need to consult closely with our NATO allies who may be targeted for additional attacks. We need to immediately declare a halt to any plans to bring refugees that may have been infiltrated by ISIS to the United States. We need to redouble our efforts to prevent ISIS agents from penetrating our nation by other means.
“Such steps, however, are defensive reactions to an enemy that will continue to try to attack us until they succeed once again. We must immediately recognize that our enemy is not ‘violent extremism.’ It is the radical Islamism that has declared jihad against the west. It will not be appeased by outreach or declarations of tolerance. It will not be deterred by targeted airstrikes with zero tolerance for civilian casualties, when the terrorists have such utter disregard for innocent life. We must make it crystal clear that affiliation with ISIS and related terrorist groups brings with it the undying enmity of America-that it is, in effect, signing your own death warrant.”

I truly like Ted. But I wish he would stop calling it Radical islamic terrorism. It’s just islamic terrorism.
Good statement, but it is simply the “scourge of Islam”, not “radical Islamic terror”.

Agreed. Even Erdogan said there is no such thing as Radical islam, there’s just islam. That is the only time I believe a muslim was telling the truth.

It is sad and unfair that those who dont support a regime or ideology that their fellow countrymen or brothers in religion support, get killed, but it is what it is.

Unfortunately I think Trump and Cruz had better have their writing staffs prepare statements/speeches to address an Islamic attack on American soil. It is going to happen. obama has left the border unsecured too long, and beat up on border security forces too long rendering them ineffective. Now we have 10K additional terrorists being let in. Yes I consider each and every one of them a terrorist or terrorist supporter until proven innocent. We are going to suffer an attack, sooner or later, it is going to happen just as sure as the sun will rise in the east tomorrow.
Ted Cruz has gone further with this statement than any other U.S. politician.
I agree with you, and Ted probably does as well, but this is as far as the envelope goes. Of course we are yet to hear from Trump, who may do us all a service by calling Islam itself out for what it is, freedon of religion be damned. Let's hope so.

I wish he’d just say islam too, but it’s still too taboo. Even Trump probably won’t. Though I have a feeling Trump at least thinks they need to be wiped out, but isn’t saying it.

It would be great to finally have a President who grasps the fact that our greatest threat is ISLAM and not Global Warming. Please let there be a President Cruz in the near future. . . .
It’s only God’s will that’s prevented it. The scene is being set for Antichrist, and brutality will increase.
Truth is, GWB owned a country in the ME named Iraq, a complete US infrastructure, ready to go, which would have been a great place for the Syrian refugees. Instead, Obama abandoned Iraq, gave it to ISIS and now is bringing the war and terror to American soil. This is insanity and something is seriously wrong.
Why can’t Congress do something about Obama just waving his wand and letting all these people in? Does he really have the power to do that? Obama, Biden and all of Congress will have blood on their hands if something like this happens here. No border enforcement and having no idea who is coming here (by the thousands) is just asking for an attack on Americans, but no one seems to care.
Trump will not go further. He like his Dubai golf courses. He may come out and call Cruz an “obnoxious blowhard.”
Our greatest threat is not Islam. Our greatest threat is American leftists.
