After the devastating attacks in Paris, some Muslims have been threatened and even attacked. But one little boy didn’t want to just stand by after a mosque in his hometown was desecrated. The Islamic Center of Pflugerville, a mosque in a strip mall in the suburbs of Austin, Texas, was vandalized on Monday. On the way to morning prayers, community members of the mosque found feces smeared on the sidewalk and torn pages of the Quran, the Islamic holy book, scattered outside the center. One of the guns used in the November 13, 2015 Paris terrorist attacks came from Phoenix, Arizona where the Obama administration allowed criminals to buy thousands of weapons illegally in a deadly and futile “gun-walking” operation known as “Fast and Furious.” A Report of Investigation (ROI) filed by a case agent in the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco Firearms and Explosives (ATF) tracked the gun used in the Paris attacks to a Phoenix gun owner who sold it illegally, “off book,” Judicial Watch’s law enforcement sources confirm. Federal agents tracing the firearm also found the Phoenix gun owner to be in...

BRUSSELS — Salah Abdeslam, who was captured on Friday in Brussels and charged with terrorist murder over the Paris attacks in November, wants to be extradited to France, his lawyer said on Thursday. Mr. Abdeslam “wants to leave for France as quickly as possible,” the lawyer, Sven Mary, told reporters Thursday morning after a court hearing in Brussels. The decision by Mr. Abdeslam, 26, to accept extradition was a reversal of his position. He was Europe’s most wanted man until he was arrested on Friday in a raid in Molenbeek, the Brussels neighborhood where he grew up. He appears to...

The brothers fit what European anti-terrorism investigators call a disturbing but now-familiar profile. They were young Belgian nationals of Moroccan descent, both with extensive criminal records involving violent crime and guns. But neither had been previously linked to terrorism, Belgium's chief prosecutor, Frederic Van Leeuw, said Wednesday at a news conference here. The siblings — Brahim and Khalid El Bakraoui — were publicly identified Wednesday as two of the suicide bombers in attacks at an airport and on a metro train Tuesday that left 31 people dead and 260 injured, the latest terrorist strikes to stun a continent reeling from...

The European Commission wants to make purchasing firearms in the EU more difficult and has cited the Paris attacks as the main contributing factor. However, Parliament has voiced its concerns about how effective its proposal will be. EurActiv Germany reports. A general ban on semi-automatic weapons, strong regulation of blank-firing guns, stricter rules for museums and collectors, and a closer exchange of information between security authorities are some of the proposals contained in a new package of measures drawn up by the Commission last November and which is currently making its way through the gauntlet that is the European Parliament....

Investigators found crates’ worth of disposable cellphones, used and discarded after being meticulously scoured of email data. All around Paris, they found traces of consistent and improved bomb-making materials. And they began sketching in the details of a multilayered terrorist attack that evaded detection or prevention until much too late. In the immediate aftermath of the Paris terror attacks on November 13th, French investigators came face to face with the reality that they had missed the signs that the Islamic State was able to mount large and sophisticated international terrorist strikes. Now, the arrest on Friday of Salah Abdeslam, the...

Perhaps it’s not a body blow to ISIS itself, but the capture of Salah Abdeslam might do a great deal of damage to its operations in Europe. One question from his capture certainly remains unanswered at the moment — why was the mastermind of the Paris attacks still in Europe at all? And why did he stick around Molenbeek, which Belgian and other Western counterterrorism operatives kept under scrutiny? Salah Abdeslam, the top suspect in last year’s deadly Paris attacks, was discharged Saturday from a Brussels hospital along with a suspected accomplice and will now face official questioning and a...
