Salah Abdeslam, Suspect in Paris Attacks, Seeks Extradition to France

BRUSSELS — Salah Abdeslam, who was captured on Friday in Brussels and charged with terrorist murder over the Paris attacks in November, wants to be extradited to France, his lawyer said on Thursday.

Mr. Abdeslam “wants to leave for France as quickly as possible,” the lawyer, Sven Mary, told reporters Thursday morning after a court hearing in Brussels.

The decision by Mr. Abdeslam, 26, to accept extradition was a reversal of his position. He was Europe’s most wanted man until he was arrested on Friday in a raid in Molenbeek, the Brussels neighborhood where he grew up. He appears to be a crucial link between the Paris attacks and those that struck Brussels on Tuesday, killing at least 31 people and wounding about 300 others.

Strange reversal of his announced plans, isn't it...

Is he perhaps afraid of encountering some other violent 'Belgian' jihadis in his current prison who may do him harm?

It's because NATO is in Brussels, and he's afraid he'll be extradited to the US under NATO authority for the deaths of American citizens and executed.

France doesn't extradite to death penalty countries. If he makes it to French soil, he'll avoid execution.

At least he’s not waffling.

Put this piece of crap in a cage. Put the cage on the Place de la Concorde right near where the guillotine used to be. Don’t let anyone near it until I get there.

Reopen Devil's Island and send him here...

"The rule here is total silence. We make no pretense of rehabilitation here. We're not priests, we're processors. A meatpacker processes live animals into edible ones. We process dangerous men into harmless ones. This we accomplish by breaking you. Breaking you physically, spiritually, and here. Strange things happen to the head here. Put all hope out of your mind, and masturbate as little as possible. It drains the strength."

Interesting...

But who would need to approve the filing of such an extradition request? The DOJ under Loretta Lynch (which means ‘under Obama’)? Or would John Kerry and the State Department have control over that (which also means Obama)? I don’t believe that a state court or prosecutor could make such a filing without going through the feds.

Is there any realistic chance of them doing that? Perhaps if Obama had spent more than 51 seconds talking about the attack, but I think that he has more important things to deal with (only a few more months left on his plans to destroy America, after all)...
