Both Jeb Bush and Marco Rubio have called for the US to accept more Syrian refugees, as long as they are properly "vetted", of course. But what does it mean to "vet" a refugee?
Normally, if someone wants to come into the United States, say, from France or Germany, our government can check with the French or German government to see if this person has a criminal record, or even is who he says he is.
But when it comes to refugees from Syria, what is called "vetting" relies mostly on one source of information: the refugee.
The UNHCR referral is a crucial first step to gaining admittance to the U.S., but the candidate must then pass “the highest level of security checks conducted on any category of traveler to the United States,†a State Department official said.
The highest level of checks! And then only after the United Nations has assured us that each refugee is okay! Very reassuring!
The State Department will first collect biographical information about the candidate and determine whether they qualify for refugee status.
Since there is no government to consult (unless the State Department wants to check with ISIS or Hizb’allah), there is only one source of information: the refugee. As long as the refugees don't lie, I expect this system will catch all would-be terrorists.

Are these guys insane? There are no records; Syria is a failed country. THERE IS NO VETTING! We are being lied to, as usual.

Not that I have ever felt the need to justify my actions or beliefs but for the sake of maybe that one lib lurker out there who might be open to a little sanity...
How could I? 9/11/01 and over 20,000 (yes, twenty thousand, not a typo) terrorist attacks/acts around the globe since then.
Unfair? Hardly. Show me the Muslim outrage at any terrorist attack, at any ISIS atrocity. {crickets} There are no "moderate" Muslims. Only Muslims actively committing acts of terror and violence, and those that have not - yet. They are all guilty.
Racist? I've heard this insult ineffectively applied to many people in many situations just like this - where race has absolutely nothing to do with it. Islam claims to be a religion, not a race.
Islamophobe? I suggest you look up "phobia" - there is nothing irrational about a fear of an organization that has been responsible for tens of thousands of acts of terror and violence and whose stated objective is to subjugate or kill me, you...everyone.
You, me, and the goat quaking in it's hooves down the street all know - WE ALL KNOW - these "refugees" are going to commit crimes. Assault, rape, murder, all coming to you thanks to these politicians and officials.
Fine, they know it, they are going ahead. That makes them accomplices in every crime. We need a prosecutor somewhere with some stones to start charging these people personally not their office/position but these people personally...with aiding and abetting every assault, rape, and murder that is coming. Long past time to put some of these PC {expletives} behind bars and out of public office so they can't hurt that many people any more.
There is no such thing as a comprehensive background check on a US citizen that has been here since birth.
When doing security background checks for high security clearance or for jobs with entities like the FBI and Secret Service they don’t go to the national criminal history databases, punch a couple of buttons then decide the person is clean. They do those kind of electronic searches but they also have a tedious process of interviewing the person then checking their answers on the phone then going on site to interview people the subject has known for years.
These people from Syria, much like Obama, have ZERO information contained in any domestic or international electronic database and it is IMPOSSIBLE to site interview anyone who might know their history and if we did interview people on site we could not guarantee we were interviewing the right people.
This is a farce, this is playing Russian roulette with the American people. Which is nothing new, we have let the dregs of the third world in over the southern border for decades.
Someone wants to increase the footprint of islam in the US. Why?
How odd that we are not even as smart as the Saudis, they won’t let in ONE of these people in to their country.
The only way to stop the war with islam is to be twice as barbaric as they can ever be.
Too many Americans are simply too uninformed and/or naive to have the intellectual tool to rationally look at something that is very simple and draw a simple conclusion. The conclusion is that islam is not a religion, it is a political construct that has a single goal and that is to displace everything that it is not. It has no place in this country. The people that follow it have no place in this country. The entity known as islam and it’s followers are traitors to the core of this nation. They represent treason and should be dealt with accordingly.
Are you a nice guy? are you a terrorist? did you ever slice a neck? did you ever rape? burn people alive in cages? throw gays off buildings?

Jindal apparently does not have the cojones to stop the feds.
Unless these people are situated on federal lands like a prison, they are in a State, and states have authority.
They just need to use that authority.
If they ARE on federal lands, the govs can STILL do something about it - surround the place with police, and arrest individuals leaving, or pull over buses that are leaving and detain all passengers (yes, SPECIFICALLY including federal employees). Use whatever pretext necessary. No bail - make the feds go to court, have massive publicity.
NO ONE will condemn these governors if there is even an attempt at a Paris-style event - quite the opposite. Even if no event occurs, they will reap political benefits on top of actually protecting their citizens (and the rest of us).
My friend informs me that huge relocation centers are being set up and that there is even a very large building in DC that is being re-purposed to process terrorists, excuse me I mean refugees/immigrants. We are looking at tens of thousands easily.
This from the London Daily mail’s report on the capture of one of the terrorists:
“A spokesman for the Croatian interior ministry said: ‘There was no record about him at the time of registration and there was no reason for us to stop him. We did not label him as potentially suspicious.’”
That’s the kind of excuse we’ll being hearing after the next terrorist attack here, as there is no database to check these people against.
