Proposed law to stop terror suspects from buying guns in U.S. faces NRA, GOP opposition
NY Daily News ^ | November 18, 2015 | Cameron Joseph and Larry Mcshane

The NRA -- and their gun-loving Republican cohorts -- are refusing once more to stop terrorists intent on getting armed in the U.S.A.

A legal loophole allows suspected terrorists on the government's no-fly list to legally buy guns, but a bill to fix that will likely wither on the vine. The federal Denying Firearms and Explosives to Dangerous Terrorists Act, even in the wake of last week’s terrorist killing of 129 people in Paris, remains a long shot due to its rabid pro-gun opponents.

"Anything which they feel restricts the use or the ability to retain a gun they’re opposed to," bill co-sponsor Rep. Pete King (R-L.I.) told the Daily News.

"It's sort of a knee-jerk reaction," he said Tuesday. "The National Rifle Association is strongly opposed to it and the fact is we have only a handful of Republican co-sponsors."

One of the most disgraceful screeds that I've seen from the idiot MSM presstitutes in a long time!

They would never abuse a law to deny gun owners access to weapons.

Sorta like they’d never use a law designed to restrict importing foreign machine guns to block the importation of Garands...

The question is why are there ANY republican co-sponsors?
Who are they?

So there is nothing crazy about thousands of terror suspects running around, only that they’re able to buy guns?

France has strict gun laws and yet these ISIS nuts seem to have no problem getting their guns.
Guess facts do not matter when it comes to educating people or doing hit pieces.

You can tell when the premise of a screed is dishonest. It defines the “potential impact” of some “loophole” without ever defining the actual loophole up-front, in order to paint idiot readers into an emotional corner.

Sucker born every minute. Unless of course they were aborted. All you need to do is look at the anti messaging guide and you understand just how underhanded they are and will NEVER let lies get in their way.

Lucky for us the refusegees have been thoroughly checked so none of them will be terrorists. They will not need guns. They can peacefully study their holy documents in peace and quiet of their mosque./s

I wonder how many will be out to get Obama?

The law essentially gives the Attorney General the authority to bar anyone he/she claims to believes might be involved in terrorism from owning guns and the authority to keep such decisions secret.

It would subject the 2nd Amendment rights of every law abiding American to the whim of the AG while not preventing a single terrorist from obtaining guns.

cripplecreek, you are precisely correct.
They show virtually no concern about the THOUSANDS OF TERRORIST SUSPECTS here domestically, yet wish to sensationalize on firearms.
This mainstream media coverage is even more low-class than their typical low-class behavior.

Well, there is that whole Constitutionally protected right thing. This law would effectively usurp that. It would allow the government to take away that right based on some nameless / faceless flunky's analysis and dropping your name onto a list. A list that by the way you can't see. A list that you don't know how to get on (or more importantly stay off of). A list that the procedure for getting off of if placed on there in error is both ill-defined but no-doubt time consuming and expensive.

Gee, and they wonder why we oppose this law? Secret lists, stripping rights away... That is the stuff of the Stasi and KGB, not America.

Agitprop 101.

Every one of the people described here had to pass a federal FBI NICS check.

So if any "blame" is to be laid, it is at the feet of that agency, and, by extension, the federal government.

I guess they don't mention that, huh?

It's also necessary to point out that these 'terror supsects' are running around inside our country because that selfsame federal government refuses to rein them in, and in many cases brought them here.

So many "inconvenient truths"...

Since jihadists are waved through, and the TSA roughs up nuns and crippled children in wheelchairs, the no-fly list is useless anyway, except as a way of oppressing US citizens.

Open the borders

Sanctuary Cities

Bring in the Jihadis/Latino Gangs by the thousands

Back Door “Gun Control” for “Terrorists”

Got it.
