I'll let John Adams and Winston Churchill speak for me. I don't think much has changed since their quotes.
http://www.bigpicweblog.com/exp/index.php/weblog/comments/john_quincy_adams_on_radical_islam

John Quincy Adams on Islam:

“In the seventh century of the Christian era, a wandering Arab of the lineage of Hagar [i.e., Muhammad], the Egyptian, [.....] Adopting from the new Revelation of Jesus, the faith and hope of immortal life, and of future retribution, he humbled it to the dust by adapting all the rewards and sanctions of his religion to the gratification of the sexual passion. He poisoned the sources of human felicity at the fountain, by degrading the condition of the female sex, and the allowance of polygamy; and he declared undistinguishing and exterminating war, as a part of his religion, against all the rest of mankind. THE ESSENCE OF HIS DOCTRINE WAS VIOLENCE AND LUST.- TO EXALT THE BRUTAL OVER THE SPIRITUAL PART OF HUMAN NATURE. Between these two religions, thus contrasted in their characters, a war of twelve hundred years has already raged. The war is yet flagrant ... While the merciless and dissolute dogmas of the false prophet shall furnish motives to human action, there can never be peace upon earth, and good will towards men.”

(Capitals are in the original--the boldfacing has been added for this blog post.)

The behavior of radical Islamist terrorists has nothing to do with Iraq or Israel. It's been going on since the seventh century.

Update 8-23-06: Commenter A.M. Whittaker posts the following quote about Islam:

Winston Churchill on Islam:

How dreadful are the curses which Mohammedanism lays on its votaries! Besides the fanatical frenzy, which is as dangerous in a man as hydrophobia in a dog, there is this fearful fatalistic apathy. The effects are apparent in many countries. Improvident habits, slovenly systems of agriculture, sluggish methods of commerce, and insecurity of property exist wherever the followers of the Prophet rule or live.

A degraded sensualism deprives this life of its grace and refinement; the next of its dignity and sanctity. The fact that in Mohammedan law every woman must belong to some man as his absolute property, either as a child, a wife, or a concubine, must delay the final extinction of slavery until the faith of Islam has ceased to be a great power among men.

Individual Moslems may show splendid qualities, but the influence of the religion paralyzes the social development of those who follow it.

No stronger retrograde force exists in the world. Far from being moribund, Mohammedanism is a militant and proselytizing faith. It has already spread throughout Central Africa, raising fearless warriors at every step; and were it not that Christianity is sheltered in the strong arms of science, the science against which it had vainly struggled, the civilization of modern Europe might fall, as fell the civilization of ancient Rome.

-Sir Winston Spencer Churchill (The River War, first edition, Vol. II, pages 248-50 (London: Longmans, Green & Co., 1899).

Ok, now I’m with you. Allah is actually against God (Abraham’s God, our God)?

He’s not a real God? How could he be? There’s only one?

Then Mohamed is a false prophet according to our bible?

Mat 1:17
So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations.

I’m no expert on the Crusades, but my understanding is that these wars were sanctioned by the Popes who believed they were God’s representative on earth. So if they went out time and again to attack Muslims at the behest of the Christian God, it seems logical that the Muslims God wasn’t the same.

Jim,

I met the author of "Secrets of the Koran," Don Richardson at a presentation he did after his book came out. I read it and shared it with an Arabist in the intelligence community, and he remarked it was the BEST source because of the way it was researched and written: he uses the Islamic primary sources.

I highly recommend it.

< "He was a blood thirsty, perverted lunatic, who cobbled together a few parts of the OT and NT and a whole LOT of his own ravings and junk from the pagan religion he was born into"

if you want to make a lie believable you mix in just enough truth to make it sound real. He did start off studying Christianity and did read the bible from what I have read about him. I guess his need to have sex with young girls made it necessary for him to form a new religion; something Christianity would never have approved of.

A wonderful member of my church is a native of the Middle East, and was born Muslim. As he grew up, at some point he saw the truth about Islam and about Christianity. He became a devout follower of Christ, at great personal risk to himself, and emigrated to the USA. He was speaking of Islam to us, and described how it is fundamentally flawed on many levels. One great contradiction he pointed out is that Islam considers Jesus to be one of the “great” prophets, but denies that He is the Son of God. At the same time, a core belief of Islam is that the “great” prophets always speak the absolute truth. So, one of their main tenets is a direct contradiction of itself, since Jesus declared Himself to be the Son of God, yet that cannot be true, according to them. DUH!

Also, as has been pointed out, Islam is much more than a religion. It is a complete socio-political system which is ABSOLUTELY incompatible with our Constitution, not to mention freedom and common sense.

Mohammed is a false prophet. I have read that he was part Jewish, but he was tossed from the Jewish community because he was a violent misfit.

I also understand that muslims used to worship numerous gods, but decided on Allah, a moon god, when they wanted to go with one god.

Any “god” or “prophet” who desires the killing of Jews and Christians are certainly not the same God and Prophet of The Holy Bible.

Allah is the god of anti-Christ, Mohammed is the false prophet, and the quran is their unholy book. They are the fake versions.

I will know more once I get my books and read up!

Very interesting. And enlightening. So, If someone like Obama claims to be Christian but also loves and defends Islam and Allah, and believes both are true religions then wouldn’t that set up quite the conundrum? There almost seems to be an untruth buried in there somewhere?

Islam is an aggressive, oppressive, regressive, intolerant, violent, bloodthirsty, misogynistic cult, that is entirely antithetical to western civilization. It is inherently sick and evil. It deserves no respect or accommodation. It is a cancer on humanity.

Islam has been around since around 600 A.D., and is and always has been a cult of murderous conquest and barbarism.

Did I miss anything?

It was a religion started by a bandit.

Not a reformed bandit either.

And it ties into the bandit "code" that you rob, murder and rape other people not your fellow bandits. Unless there are no other people handy and then it is perfectly ok to go after your fellow bandit.

It hasn't changed in 1400 years.

If muslims believed that we worshipped the same god as them, they would not scream “Allah is greater.” Clearly they do not believe that we worship their god. Whether misguided westerners believed it is another matter.

There is no way on God’s green earth that anyone could believe in both Christianity and Islam. In fact, anyone who claims to be Christian would have no problem saying that islam is a false religion.

Islam is ANTI-Christian. In islam, anyone who is not muslim is to be in servitude, or be killed.

I wish everyone would read a true translation of the Holy Quran. You can't find one in the USA, except for perhaps in an antique book store. Also in the religion section of http://www.gutenberg.org

I read the Holy Quran when I was about 13 or so, also the Bible and the Book of Mormon. When you read a true translation of the Holy Quran, you will realize there are no Muslim "terrorists".

They are simply true believers doing what the Holy Quran tells them to. They are not bad people.

The fact they have to wage jihad against all infidels and kill those who do not submit to Islam is just the way it is.

So, in the long run, you wil have a choice to submit (become a Muslim) , be killed by them, or kill them.

I consider islam to be a cult of personality, not a religion.

I consider Islam to be a political party, not a religion.
