Sun Tzu, generally considered a reliable source on Good War Ideas, said something along the lines of, "You've got to know your enemy in order to beat him, because some dudes hate being kicked in the junk and others seem to enjoy it." The difficulty we've had defeating ISIS suggests that, maybe, we don't really understand who and what the [censored] they are. Everything we hear is filtered through politicians and pundits, each with their own agenda ("You know what ISIS is afraid of? Me, Donald Trump!"). Fortunately, it turns out that finding out what ISIS wants is like finding out what a vegan eats: They'll tell you. Which is to say that ISIS has a magazine.
No, really. It's an actual glossy, full-color magazine called Dabiq, complete with feature articles and photo spreads. So, in the interest of understanding just what makes these violent lunatics tick, I read through 700-plus pages of this oddly well-put-together propaganda and learned ...

Interesting, but I think he misinterprets their main hatred. They talk the most about non agreeing Muslims because that is most of what surrounds them. It is like saying a chess player is most concerned about pawns because he seems to focus on and capture more of them. They are the front line and the easiest, least costly to grab. It does not mean it is their number one focus.
They hate Israel most, then those they see as supporting Israel, then those who dare to defend themselves against their evil, then anyone who does not yield to their power. Allah is just a tool they hide behind. It is all about them.
In Chess terms, Israel is the opposition queen. Other Muslims are merely pawns.

Very interesting article.
Do they have a “sexy goat of the month” centerfold?
Good analysis, I think you are right.
Still, I bet he’s a lot closer than anyone working for the current administration and a heck of a lot of pontificating pundits.
True. And credit to him for going there and doing that dreadful but necessary research.
They hate Israel because, like Spain and parts of eastern Europe, the land was once part of the Dar-es-Salaam.
That, and they raised Mohammad's ire by mocking him, or something. I forget, I skimmed his dreadful book awhile back, and he was cheesed off at the Jews for some reason, or the other. So Mohammad's followers are going to hate the Jews, and thus Israel.
Or IS it????
Kind of like the old joke about the Playboy for married men - it has a picture of the same woman in it each time :-)
From a link on the site about who the refugees from Syria are - and why they are desperate to leave:
Interesting, after reading the piece from Daily Beast
