Man Accidentally Carries Loaded Gun on Flight, No One Notices

A retired truck driver flying through Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) is warning American flyers their experience may not be secure, after he was able to pass a loaded handgun through a Transportation Security Administration checkpoint. Speaking to Britain’s Daily Mail, the flyer says while packing his gun was purely accidental, he feels the TSA should have caught it prior to departure.

The incident happened on November 5, as 67-year-old Blake Alford was preparing to fly from ATL to Chicago Midway Airport (MDW). In his bag was a Ruger .38 pistol, loaded with a full magazine of seven hollow-point bullets. The weapon was in Alford’s carry-on luggage by mistake. However, when it went through the TSA checkpoint, Alford says it was undetected.

Alford only discovered the gun after arriving in Chicago, after unpacking.

The baggie is actually to prevent a mess if the bottle pops open in the low pressure air at high altitude. It has nothing to do with making the liquid safe or not.

I always put all of my bottles in Ziploc bags before flying. It is a good idea to put some pens in bags, also. Those Pilot pens can be VERY messy on a flight.

Irrelevant since there’s no proof just a story.

Here’s a nod to our Overlords in the TSA. Once again, they prove their value to society. These incompetents need to be fired immediately...and exiled. Have you ever noticed how many of the TSA employees heads are misshapen? Just askin’...

You do know about 3-1-1, don’t you?

Actually, sounds like you don’t. I hated getting behind folks like you in the line. I’ve gotten screened, a secondary pat down, and been through there while a casual traveler was still trying to figure out what do do with their baggie.

Pinheads need jobs I guess. The TSA provides full employment.

I have noticed that over time, they’ve become more polite in their security theatrics.

Accidental . . . my small-of-the-back pancake holster. Heck, I always forget I carry - sometimes in the shower.

This sounds fishy.

Who forgets they have a loaded gun in their carry on?

Who forgets they have a loaded gun in their carry on?

Back in the day, before the TSA and all that federal "professionalizing", I had a vehicle break down in Ft. Worth and I needed to get back to Oklahoma City. I always carried when on the road so my revolver was in my bag but I didn't even think about having it when I headed to catch a Southwest flight. The bag was able to be a carry-on and the screening at Love Field caught it. The screener allowed me to run it back to check into regular baggage. Saved my a$$ for sure...

“Yeah. I generally think revolver when its a 38”

Don't know of a .38 revolver with a seven-shot cylinder. Maybe it's one of those “special” Ruger LCP’s with the “elliptical cylinder.”
