A Ted Cruz moment for me
Legal Insurrection ^ | Sunday, November 29, 2015 | William A. Jacobson

The confidence to engage rather than avoid.

This video has been around since July. I had heard about it, but never watched it. I’m not sure how, but I stumbled upon it last night.

In the video, Ted Cruz’s rally opposing the Iran nuclear deal was interrupted by Medea Benjamin and other Code Pink protesters.

Cruz could have reacted many ways. He could have shouted down the people shouting him down. He could have insulted them. He could have had security push them away.

But instead, he engaged. That’s what was important to me. The confidence to engage rather than avoid. Standing face to face with hostile protesters was very Andrew Breitbart-like.

When you watch this video, forget who won the argument, but focus on Cruz’s willingness to debate the leader of Code Pink, someone used to grabbing the spotlight. Cruz reduced Benjamin to a sideshow rather than center stage. It’s almost as if she was not there.

For me, watching it was a Ted Cruz moment.

Sometimes “engaging” an opponent is futile; it just puts you on the defensive. You cannot engage dedicated communists — they need to be slapped down. When engagement does not work, is Cruz tough enough to do the slap-down? Trump seems to be up to this task.

Determination and force in and of themselves are not everything a real leader needs. Some might have handled that situation a great deal less intelligently and with far less maturity

He handled the situation like a Real Leader!

GO TED!!

Thank you

Trump supported TARP, auto bailout and Porkulus bill, i.e., Trump is for big government and big businesses.

Trump's Record on Free-market Issue: (from the Conservative Review)

Trump has a terrible record on free market issues. The only bright spot is the Federal Reserve's quantitative easing, but this glimmer is countermanded by his repeated support for bailing out Wall Street and the auto industry, and increased stimulus spending. Of particular concern is Trump's belief that the government can use eminent domain powers to seize private property in the name of private economic development. This comes as no surprise, given his support for using eminent domain to profit his own company.

Trump supported the Supreme Court’s 2005 decision in Kelo v. City of London, allowing public authorities to seize private land for economic development by private investors; Trump said, “I happen to agree with [the decision] 100 percent.” (National Review)  This is no surprise given Trump’s attempt to use eminent domain in his own line of work. (Institute for Justice)

Trump supported President Obama’s 2009 stimulus, saying: “The word stimulus is probably not used in its fullest…you know, certain of the things that were given weren't really stimulus. They were pork, as we call it, or they were gifts to certain people. But overall, I think he's [President Obama] doing very well. You do need stimulus and you do have to keep the banks alive.” (CNN

Trump supported TARP, saying, "You had to do something to shore up the banks, because ... you would have had a run on every bank." (CNN

Trump supported the 2008 auto bailout, saying, “I think the government should stand behind them 100 percent. You cannot lose the auto companies. They’re great. They make wonderful products.” He also said that the federal government could “easily save the companies.” (Daily Caller

Trump criticized the Federal Reserve’s intervention in the debt market, saying quantitative easing creates “phony numbers” that mislead the marketplace and “will not ultimately benefit the economy. The dollar will go down in value and inflation will start rearing its ugly head.” (CNBC

Donald Trump has a history of using eminent domain to complete business deals. Multiple times Trump has supported the use of government agencies to take possession of homes and businesses for use in his private business plans. Eminent domain seizures are reserved only for public use of property rather than abuse by the government taking property from one individual and giving to another. (Washington Post

Donald Trump has sought and received crony capitalist tax breaks for his commercial properties in New York. These tax breaks, and even an abatement, force the property taxes of other property owners to rise at the expense of the connected. Special treatment for one business or industry over another with the tax code conflicts with free market principles. (National Review

In 2009, Trump supported Barack Obama's call for limits on the pay of executives. (CNN)

Has Trump ever showed the courage to get this deep into the lion's den, and come out beautifully?

This was the best 24 minute view I have seen in weeks.

Yes Cruz is exactly who we need to restore respectability to this badly bruised office.

No more childish bombast, nor arrogance.

Just watched the whole video. I am more confident that Cruz IS the man for the job. God bless him, even as He uses Trump.

Amen?

>> “At the end of the day Cruz voted to give Obama easy approval of the Iran and TPP deals.” <<

.
Keep on living by the lie!

Cruz voted successfully to keep the Iran sellout from being a legitimate ‘deal.’

The Iran sellout remains unlawful, and unconstitutional, and revocable by the stroke of his pen on January 20, 2017.

Who sent you here?

I'll post the links only for people who still want to know the facts.

Corker Bill:

Ted Cruz's Record of defending U.S. Sovereignty:

TPA:

Please watch this video. Ted Cruz described the situation around the votes for TPA and Corker's bills.

Immigration:

Ted Cruz: 'When It Comes to Immigration: Legal, Good; Illegal, Bad'

I, and many people, are grateful that Ted Cruz led the fight to defeat the 'Gang of 8' amnesty bill. Otherwise, they would have approved amnesty already.

Trump supporters are sensing the implosion. His perceived mocking of the reporter is not helping him.

Wrong! Cruz and everyone else, except my Senator, Tom Cotton, voted for the Corker Bill.

That and his support for tpp is enough for me. Another Professional politician I will never vote for.
