Twisted Sister: Trump can use 'We're not Gonna Take It'
Washington Examiner ^ | 11/29/15 | Joshua Axelrod

Donald Trump has drawn the ire of musical acts like Neil Young, Aerosmith and R.E.M. for using their songs on his presidential campaign trail.

But it appears Trump has finally found an ally from the music industry in the form of Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider, who explicitly gave the billionaire mogul, who currently leads the Washington Examiner's presidential power rankings, permission to use their 1984 hit "We're Not Gonna Take It" as a campaign rally cry.

Snider told Canadian Business that Trump called and asked for permission to use the song, a gesture that he appreciated.

"I said, 'Look, we don't see eye to eye on everything — there are definitely issues that we're far apart on,'" he said. "But thinking back to when I wrote the song and what the song is about, it's about rebellion, speaking your mind and fighting the system. If anybody's doing that, he sure is."

Snider said that Trump and Democratic candidate and Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders are "raising holy hell and shaking everything up" as representatives of two extreme ideologies, and those two embody the spirit of "We're Not Gonna Take It."

Trump and Snider have worked together in the past, with the former firing the latter on "All-Star Celebrity Apprentice" in 2013. The singer doesn't hold grudges now, and even considers Trump a friend.

"I have spent time with Donald and his family," he said. "I don't think either of us expected that we would like each other, but you know, Donald Trump is a pretty chill guy. He's a frontman. When that camera goes on, he furls his brow, he does his thing. Off-camera he's very self-deprecating. He makes jokes about being too orange and about his hair."

The 60-year-old rocker is no stranger to working around politics. Any fan of MSNBC has probably heard his voice quite often and didn't even realize it.

"I've done documentaries, commercials, I was the voice of MSNBC for a year," Snider said. "I was the one saying, "'Hardball' with Chris Matthews, tonight at 8 on MSNBC."

I think this would make the ultimate Trump song.

You are correct. I hope that we are returning to the type of media that the founders were used to, where every outlet was expected to have an opinion and an agenda, and everyone understood it, and accounted for it. I think it does a better job of “leveling the field”.

“Mass Media” did not really exist until the 1880’s.

It completely changed the dynamic of elections. It is no coincidence that the “progressive movement” did not take off until well after 1900.

I met Stevie Nicks about 43 times. She owned property on the edge of Camp Pendleton in San Clemente. She would come out on her back deck scream bloody murder every time we ran past her place in formation, barking out cadence. Lol. True story.

What I take away from this is: See how Donald Trump is able to get what he wants? Even though they disagree on some issues, he is a friend-maker, he is likable, he gets results.
If the powers that be “allow” him to be President, he really could make this country great again.

I’d be upset, too, if my daily view of the beach was marred by the Dolly Parton monument, otherwise known as the San Onofre Nuclear Power Plant facility. :)

On another note, a lot of conservative/libertarian Rush fans are in for a really rude awakening. They invited Michael Moore backstage when he was in the audience at a show and recently Lee and Lifeson were on his Sirius XM show for an interview.

Ah-nold used the same song during the 2003 recall of Grey Davis. Jeff “Skunk” Baxter of Steely Dan and The Doobie Brothers toured with Arnold and did a great job live on that song.

There should be one, but if not, San Onofre should suffice, because it — ahem — fully honors her shapeliness.

Maybe he could get permission to use “You’ve Got to Stand for Something.” Tipper sang at one of our rallies in DC.

A POTUS candidate who’s done nothing so far but talk a good game and a General who fought against the Untied States, I don’t know which is a sillier suggestion for “Greatest American since George Washington”.

Trump is exactly like Reagan, a great communicator, great dealmaker - he’ll make great deals for this country, and will be the Teflon President - nothing negative sticks. What some Freepers are so against him I’ll never understand.

I remember when Twisted Sister was just starting out. And I do mean JUST. I saw them in a upscale honky tonk type rock bar in NY, Newberg I think it was. They did the make-up thing even then, and they were really pretty good. I hadn’t wanted to go see them because of the name of the band, it sounded lame to me. :) God I am old ...

Saw her when she still half of Buckingham Nicks. I remember it as being at Gerde’s Folk City but that can’t be right. Somewhere on Bleecker Street. She was going places, I could tell right then.

REM ...REM who? One-hit wonders with nothing of note for the record and who were so disillusioned to think they had more impact than the Beatles. Losers these a-holes be.

Lead singer Michael Stipes came out as a homo before it was 'cool' as cadavers to do so. 'nuf said.
