Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Monday he does not support banning all Muslims from entering the country, distancing himself from an inflammatory proposal by rival Donald Trump.
Earlier Monday, the billionaire frontrunner for the GOP nomination called for "a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on." Cruz weighed in on the proposal while campaigning in South Carolina, where he was asked if he would support a policy barring Muslims from coming into the United States.
"No, that is not my policy," the Texas senator told reporters.

I don’t know...Trump does not have donors because of his wealth...There really is no current candidate besides Trump that can run an effective campaign without the assistance of donor money. I’d imagine that Reagan had funds from donors and he turned out fine. Time will tell...
For the record I trust Cruz.
Trump is a train wreck.
Somehow I have avoided the Kool-Aid.
Deace is not a kook. Many people disagree with him, but he is not a kook.
In Pakistan and Afghanistan it is a capital offense to leave Islam. This is the law of the land. If this normal Islam or is it radical Islam?
How does Trump's proposal lack legal foundation?
If Trump followers are Trumpets what do you call Cruz followers?
I think it’s even better. No Syrian Muslims, no Muslims if any sort.
Yes, it is enforceable because the verifiable burden of proof rests with the person. Just like with Australia’s skill requirement.
Also remember all the British sympathizers who shipped back to England after the Revolution.
Cruzers? :-)
I agree. Cruz is genuine. Not 100.00% conservative, but high of 98%.
Informed.

. Iâll bet that a very large percentage of the maids and landscapers at his USA properties are illegals. When is he going to fire all of them?

Just exactly WHAT are you basing your “Bet” on?
LUV it! LOL
Beep Beep!
When Trump becomes president he will be the anointer of hundreds of new establishment-free candidates. Trump will be the one who endorses candidates. He will appear in the media endorsing his good friend -——— and that candidate will get lots and lots of votes because Trump endorses him. This has been one of the sources of power for the establishment for many years but now it will be on the people’s side with Trump being the king maker.
You know, I’m still not sold on Trump because of his bizarre liberal comments BEFORE he started his presidential run, but what I WILL give him credit for is that he has singlehandedly moved the pendulum back to the right. Obama moved things so far to the left that Hillary is portrayed now as a “moderate” and Bernie Sanders is somehow a legitimate candidate. Are you kidding me?? Trump has shifted the discussion and instead of talking about merely containing Obama’s damage, we’re now talking about undoing it entirely and truly getting the US moving forward again.
I’d still say Cruz 1st, Rubio 2nd but I’d rather have Rubio on the VP slot, not a fan of the rest. WILL obviously support Trump though if he gets the nomination...just don’t think it’s going to happen.
How about “Wash your face with this soap made from pig lard and ashes.”
The Bush people are all establishment “let’s be nice guys”—screw ‘em. We have had enough of these nice guys who have no spine and play follow the leader. They do not think for themselves, they only follow what their professors and country club fiends say. They are out of touch. If you look at what is happening in Britain, Germany and other European countries regarding Islam they are all led by drooling idiots who say all the safe nice things but they turn their backs on their own nation in order to spare the feelings of muslims. It is a sickening spectacle to watch.
That was my analysis of Rubio. Rubio is definitely Establishment driven. I think Cruz is a politician with a fine legal mind, but who should not be in the drivers seat of this airplane called the USA.
As someone who supports Cruz, but doesn't think Rubio is Satan, I applaud your courage for saying this here. I think you're the only person I've seen mention his name other than as an epithet.
Like them, I was EXTREMELY disappointed when Rubio signed on to the Gang-of-Eight. But I think everyone deserves a Mulligan and also think Rubio is a very talented guy.
