Cruz on Trump's Muslim Ban: 'That's Not My Policy'

Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz said Monday he does not support banning all Muslims from entering the country, distancing himself from an inflammatory proposal by rival Donald Trump.

Earlier Monday, the billionaire frontrunner for the GOP nomination called for "a total and complete shutdown of Muslims entering the United States until our country's representatives can figure out what is going on." Cruz weighed in on the proposal while campaigning in South Carolina, where he was asked if he would support a policy barring Muslims from coming into the United States.

"No, that is not my policy," the Texas senator told reporters.

If this is the face he chooses to adopt, it sounds weasely. If it’s just a MSM characterization it’s yet another libbie taunt of “let’s you and him fight.”

It's the difference between someone that is controlled by special interests and someone that is not. Cruz very selectively chooses the issues he wants capitalize on and beats it into the ground.

Trump speaks his mind, knowing what trouble this country is in with the bipartisan Status Quo ruling party and is willing to let the chips fall where they may. Cruz...not so much.

Yup, a “here’s my policy” statement would put a positive face on it, even if it differed from Trump’s.

Sometimes the use of the negative can make you look weak.

Fiorino is an idiot period! She doesn’t understand that this is America to begin with. Just another brat ho lucked into millions because of her own incompetence and got a golden parachute. She is the token female as if we need another one after Hillery.

She does seem to have a wad of P.C. tar in her cranium to which thoughts get stuck.

It is probably that Ted knows that the slippery slope of Trumps “inflammatory” statement, is that the fruitcake in chief is a Muslim and such a policy would put the fruitcake in chief in somewhat of a compromised position. The interesting part will now be to watch what the reaction of the fruitcake in chief will be. He is probably in close consultation with his shariah law czar at the moment.

It would be great if enough pressure could be brought to bear that Obama is afraid of a mutiny.

He could probably call up his pals in the Middle East and say knock it off, we’re in trouble now. Save your jihad for another day.

Close the borders. No ships or planes will accept Muslims bound for America from any of the 30 + Muslim countries. Strict passport control. If they are caught trying to sneak in, throw them in Guantanamo until such time as they are deported.

Sorry...and I’m ready for the bricks...but Cruz is absolutely right.

Trump saying this was dumb, dumb, dumb. Let’s just talk about the practical aspects:

Interviewer: “Are you a Muslim?”

Abdul Sayeed Muhammad: “Nope. Non-denominational Christian.”

How the hell you going to disprove it?

I’ve not been one to say: “Well now Trump really stepped in it,” with every politically incorrect statement. But THIS will hurt him bad.

Msrk my words.

Hank

Here’s where Israeli style screening could be of help.

Those folks ought to at least be called for expertise (and who knows, Trump may have Netanyahu’s cell number).

He said “no Muslims” rather than banning people from certain countries because Christians and others from those countries are not a problem. It’s muslims who are the problem.

We simply don’t need to bring millions of muslims into the United States. No good reason for it.

Also, nearest-approximation is a lot better than nothing. They caught Japanese impostors in the Philippines in WWII by making them say Lollapalooza. It would come out like Rorraparooza. Now maybe somewhere a Japanese person took painstaking speech lessons. But if 99% of the problem was taken care of, that was a great help.

Trump is just bs’ing. Glad Cruz waits to give a more tactical response that has the legal foundation to actually happen rather than blurting out any old thing

>> Trump is an employer of hordes of maids, dishwashers, groundskeepers, maintenance people, and construction laborers <<

Was Trump’s proposal made in good faith? Or just to bait his opponents?

I dunno.

But I guess he could demonstrate good faith by firing all the Muslim employees working for his various companies.

Trouble is he might refine himself right out of public support. Better to say explicitly he’s going for the best approximation of Trump’s policy that is possible. In the face of a burning issue like this, anything less is weasely sounding.

You ask for their frikking Passport?

We are not obligated in this country to let ANYONE in. Non-citizens do not have a flippin’ right to cross our borders at will, to overstay their visas, to move in your flippin’ house or driver my effing car, or to enter and do our citizens harm.

This attack on Trump for a common sense moratorium is DEMAGOGUERY from BOTH the “right” and “left.” And I for one am sick and tired of this racist bullshit being thrown around at EVERY effing opportunity. I’m SICK of it.

He said moratorium on immigrations, I don’t know how you jump to the conclusion you did.
