It's time to admit that Donald Trump is fully capable of destroying the Right's chances for the presidency in 2016.
"[W]hatever anguish of spirit it may cost," Patrick Henry said in 1775, "I am willing to know the whole truth; to know the worst, and to provide for it." Republicans, and conservatives more generally, would do well to adopt this maxim regarding Donald Trump.
It is less than a year until the 2016 elections, and Trump shows no real signs of going away. The man that should have been a laughable six-week distraction has turned into an incomprehensible near-six-month frontrunner. There is no longer any merit nor utility to pretending he is not a serious threat to the Right's prospects in 2016.
At ThinkProgress last month, Judd Legum cobbled together nearly half a year's worth of the-end-is-near predictions for Trump's campaign, beginning in July. It's been five months of assuming that Trump's bid for the candidacy has been teetering on the brink, while he has steadily creeped upward in the polls. Trump has been towering above the rest of the field since August.
Donald Trump Isn't a Fluke
Ben Carson overtook Trump for about five baffling minutes in early November, after which Carson's numbers dropped sharply. It is perfectly reasonable to assume Carson's numbers will continue to plummet and he will eventually leave the race. It is not quite so reasonable to assume the same about Trump.

Sure hope they didn’t pay this dickweed for his article.
Actually we have but in the opposite avenue of being very pro-Trump instead. We are not the blinded fools like they paint us. For that they should look directly into their own mirrors.
“The man that should have been a laughable six-week distraction” Objective and open minded. /s
I’m starting to think that much of the “conservative” press is as clueless as the MSM. Trump is doing and saying what he’s doing and saying because nobody else in the position of credibly running for President will do it. The only one coming anywhere close is Cruz, and they hate him, too. Why is that? What does Trump threaten? What are they all so afraid of?
If the GOPe is waiting for Trump to choke they are going to be waiting for a long time.

Wow!
Trump is not a threat to the Right's prospects in 2016! Trump is the only bulldog in this fight. Say what you will about the rest of the pack, they all obviously demure and equivocate with any pressure from the opposition or special interests. All the others fear political correctness like a Hollywood ingenue in her first interview. I want to see all of our enemies roasted on a spit and sent to Hell! I know Trump is the only one that will do it!
Hilarious!
Share it everywhere! Please...
These are really good!
And wins the general election in landslide. I for one cannot wait.
There are three big reasons.
1) This just isn't "how it's done"--- you can't just jump in, no matter how famous or rich you are, and run. The reason they think this way is that if you have "come up through the ranks" they have had years to shape you, browbeat you, and bribe you into "their" view of what "conservatism" is. But Trump didn't submit to years of their tutelage. They didn't get to mold him, thus can't control him.
2) Trump, for all his money, isn't an elite by behavior or temperament. He's an average guy with a ton of money. He embarrasses them because at dinner parties they can't talk "nuances" of his "arts funding bill" or whatever. It was like when Rush used to do those Manhattan parties: he was an embarrassment because he supported gun rights and opposed abortion.
3) More than any particular policy, they hate Trump because he is a threat to their livelihoods. Who needs NRO if it has no effect on policies? Or if it always supports losers? And many in the conservative press, I am betting, have spouses working as consultants for the GOPe candidates. They are soooo inbred.
Good catch, Vet.
Don’t agree with the story, though. I think the poll was incidental.
More likely, he simply decided he had to get further to the right of Cruz.
Just damn ... the same genre of weiners said these kinds of things about Ronald Reagan.
Call him Bonzo! LMAO ... You, urinalist dirtbag, are fired!
Tell him what he’s won, Jay .
