Just as Ted Cruz doesn't support indiscriminately shutting down mosques inside the United States, he also said he won't support a ban on all Muslims coming to America:
Cruz makes clear to the Daily Signal that he believes we should focus on countries that have problems with radical Islamic terrorism.
He also weighed in on the the ceasing of the NSA's bulk collection of metadata, pointing out that we had metadata and still weren't able to stop this San Bernardino terrorist attack or the Tsarnaev brothers in Boston or Nidal Hassan.
I don't think Ted said or implied that. He said, "I wouldn't support a ban on all Muslims coming to America," as opposed to his plan of banning immigration from countries that support "radical Islam." Both plans are temporary moratoriums. Neither plan is permanent.
But as someone else posted above, a 10-year across-the-board ban doesn't sound bad to me, except for Christian or Jewish refugees from ISIS.
Yes, it is possible to vet Middle Eastern Christians. Glenn Beck is doing it as are other Christian aid organizations.
STUPID!
Very disappointed. When you have no indication of who they are, where they’re from, we can’t have any. It only takes one. And he could be someone like your very friendly neighbor or co-worker. We’re screwed.
What are the odds that all those Muslims will just claim to be Christians?
By asking what Christian church they attended and then verifying with the pastor an other congregants.
Well, we can start by blocking all immigration from all Muslim countries, such as Saudi Arabia, etc. Then profiling for the rest who try to come in through Europe, especially people with Arab names, just like how Israel does it.
Kurdish allies?
Diplomats?
Iraqi translators or soldiers who fought alongside Americans?
Malala Yousafzai?
And, of course, there’s the practical: how does one ID whether someone is or is not a Muslim?
Really, and you think that will work, that our Gov will be able to sort that out, and that Muslims in their home countries won’t adapt to create say fake Churches like they are with fake passports? I personally don’t think Gov can find their ass from their head.
How are you going to verify a Muslim is a Muslim? Please tell me.
offer them bacon? show them a goats rear end? there are ways
Yes, we know. But it's also difficult to discern Muslims at all, since they are permitted to LIE and claim to be Christians.
That's why a ban on immigration from countries that support "radical Islam," or even better, Islamic countries, makes sense and is more enforceable.
Still, I think it would be good to have a law banning Mohammedan immigration, even if the Mohammedans skirt it. The law can serve as a means for deporting Mohammedans if they begin practicing Mohammedanism following their entry into the country.
“I support an equal treatment of all immigrants”
That’s the Obama solution.
The results so far are not very good.
Did I recently read that muslims were banned in the U.S., for a time, in the ‘50’s? I thought I’d read that, here.
The Obama solution is not that. The Obama policy is open doors to all Muslims. What I’m advocating is an across the board halt to all immigration save for emergency cases where we then can do a full investigation. We don’t have the resources to background check hundreds of thousands.
So Ted will probably need some Saudi petro dollars in the near future. Can’t endanger a potential source of funding.
Fake churches? You are too paranoid.
It's that simple, since ME Christians are Orthodox or Catholic. Their baptisms, confirmations and marriages are recorded. They are formal members of parishes. Priests can identify them, etc.
“No more Muslims.”
I’ll second that emotion.
“How are you going to verify a Muslim is a Muslim?”
They need to be vetted. Obviously.
If it can’t be verified that they are who they say they are, they don’t came in.
Trump has already explained this about a million times. Just pay attention to what he says and ignore the MSM.
How are you going to verify a Muslim is a Muslim? Please tell me.
Offer them a ham and cheese sandwich.
