Yeah, Ronald Reagan. I couldn’t care less about all the stupid government lingo and details of things like SALT that Jimmy Carter was so big on. I cared about one thing: America and what was best for her. Reagan said he would lower taxes, get the economy strong again and then go after the USSR with the strategy, “We win, they lose.” And he did just that.

You don’t vote for the political insider who knows all the lingo and collateral details about who’s who. You vote for the man who has the best interests of America at heart and the best way of getting her on the right track.

The ones least likely to do that are the “ruling elite” who want nothing to do with change (REAL not Obama-change - the kind that CUTS GOVERNMENT) because that threatens those in power. So politicians are generally not the right candidates. As Carson said, we need “citizen-statesmen.”

Well, with almost 300,000 votes cast, this poll regarding who won last night is probably pretty accurate. I voted for Cruz, and I would have placed Rubio ahead of Paul...but all in all, I believe it is probably fairly accurate:

Here's the link to the Drudge Poll: http://drudgereport.com/nowlv.htm

The top four candidates are registering 90% of the vote. I believe in more scientific polls, the top four are registering something similar. IMHO, they should take an average of the intervening polls and then allow only the top four or five on stage for the next major debate.

if we get a booming private economy going with lower corporate rates, business mind set, decreased regulations, etc, they may actually have a surplus and will be able to cut taxes.

Thanks, Art...this is pretty much exactly how Trump has explained it will work. There will always be some naysayers, but a booming economy will prove them wrong :)

It was clearer than ever tonight that Trump is a terrible candidate and is no different than a democrat... Same big government, liberty stealing ideals which will do nothing but destroy this country in the long run.<

A "terrible" candidate who is trouncing the rest of the field. Have you read his position papers on immigration, tax reform, and the 2nd amendment? Do you want to win the WH or have another Rep loser who claims to be a conservative?

The Reps have lost the popular vote in 5 out of the last 6 elections. The rapidly changing demographics of this country will ensure that the Dems are the permanent majority party. I want a winner not someone who is ideologically pure. Trump offers us the best chance to win.

Yep, we have become so accustomed to presidential campaigns that are the province of the political class and are dominated by debates about details that the insiders obsess about. The reality is that issues and policies are becoming less relevant. Both parties and the pundits have become disconnected from the people. When 75% of the people say we are on the wrong track, then that should send a signal to the political class.

Trump, Carson and Cruz now have, according to the polls, 65% of the Rep electorate. If the GOPe tries to steal this nomination from any of the three ala Mississippi, then the GOP is finished.

The idea that the GOPe would even TRY to foist this globalist mope Jeb on us shows you just how deep their contempt for us runs. It really is stunning!

They did that for a while here in L.A. now its flipped with Mark Levin live and Hugh Hewitt is taped. I wonder how much longer Hugh is going to be on the air? For the record as much as I disagree with Hugh I think he is fair enough guy, unlike Medved who is a bit of a bully.

I’m sorry, but Rush has a tainted view of the man.

Rush lives in Palm Beach, FL. As does Trump most weekends. In fact, Trump converted his private residence in Palm Beach into the prestigious Mar-a-Lago Club, which by their own admission, “is the epicenter of the social scene in Palm Beach, providing unparalleled service and entertainment and reliving the rich history of the great Marjorie Merriweather Post Estate.”

Rush usually is not tainted, but I cannot imagine him being super critical of the owner of what could be the club at the center of his social circle.

Trump very may well be what he claims, but my point is why take the chance when we have solid candidates which do not have the negatives and unknowns associated with Trump? Why take the chance when we have someone with a record to stand on?

I want someone who I can trust is who they say they are. Someone who will not learn towards liberal stances at the drop of a hat. I want a conservative, not a charlatan who is the latest flavor of the month.

I spent 28 years in the State Department. The reality is that the permanent bureaucracy runs the government for the most part with the possible exception of foreign policy. Political appointees can be shaped or thwarted by the bureaucracy.

IMO the bureaucracy has become too big and increasingly politicized. Most of the political contributions go to the Dems, the party of Big Government. This should not come as a surprise since most bureaucrats believe they doing something worthwhile and important. This is dangerous. The scandals and improprieties of IRS, EPA, ATF, etc. may be initiated by political appointees, but the reality is that the career bureaucrats don't have to be convinced to do it. There is no resistance.

As a result, even if the Reps win the WH and continue control over Congress, the ability to change things will be circumscribed by the bureaucracy, which cannot be changed thanks to the Pendleton Act and government unions.

Trump is a rare fresh wind. He has revolutionized how the USA looks at Islam. He made it look easy. Prior to that ... get this:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

San Francisco ‘Sanctuary City’ Sheriff Loses Re-Election

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3356310/posts

... As of early Wednesday morning, Hennessy had received 62 percent of the vote to just 31 percent for Mirkarimi....

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Did it ever seem possible that San Fransisco would vote out a Sanctuary City zealot? I would have been shocked to hear that before this primary. His campaign is even sending shockwaves through Europe.

People sense his sincerity. He doesn’t sound wonky. No one on earth intimidates him [rare in politics].

And ... he has executive experience and wicked-smart negotiation skills.

Agreed. Congress will have a say along with the bureaucracy. The candidates are asked to come up with detailed plans that really don't have any chance of being implemnented.

Trump can't compete with the members of the political class when it comes to policy. They are immersed in policy every day. It is their job. An outsider like Trump or Carson starts at a disadvantage, at least for appearance sake. The reality is that it really isn't significant or meaningful that Trump doesn't know what the nuclear triad is or what part would he prioritize. Once in the WH, Trump will be briefed by the bureaucrats and his own advisers every day on the issues. Being President is being more an executive and manager than it is being a policy wonk. In fact, being a policy wonk may be a disadvantage given the likes of Carter, Clinton, and Obama.

The real issue is judgment. Last night, for me, the issue that reflected where a candidate stands on judgment was the institution a no-fly zone in Syria. Cruz, Trump, and Rand Paul passed the test. Rubio, Graham, and the rest of them along with Hillary should make us all wary of their judgment.
