When President Barack Obama announced that women would be eligible for combat roles in the military earlier this month, he stated âour armed forces have taken another historic step toward harnessing the talents and skills of all our citizens.â Secretary of Defense Ash Carter echoed those thoughts: âOur force of the future must continue to benefit from the best people America has to offer ⦠in the 21st century, that includes drawing strength from the broadest possible pool of people.â
This change is going to help the military in any number of ways: Itâs a step toward greater fairness, and it makes a new talent pool available to combat positions. But before we get too complacent, the Army has another challenge in front of it that opening the door to women is just one small step toward solving: It is understaffed for the challenges it faces, and faces an even bigger recruiting struggle ahead.

ps: get rid of the lawyers and ROE’s and they will join
They can go off and fight for 30 millions illegal aliens who’ll stay behind and enjoy the benefits of America without any risk.
How does this square with the military downsizing the last few years?
Air Force & Army have been both forcing separations as probably have the Navy & Marine Corps.
Yeah. Not so much with that. Thanks for playing though.
How else are you going to find all the troops you need to occupy Syria once you kick ISIS out?
That is what happens when the military bends over backward to please a tiny fraction of the civilian population. What percentage of the American population is “trans gender” any way? It has to be a lot less than 1%. Who the hell would want to serve in the military with freaks and queers in the barracks? Oliver North says he would not recommend serving in today’s military.
Not to mention the excellent treatment you can look forward to from the VA.
Would that give us the overwhelming force generals say is needed to win wars WWII style? If it took 12 million to defeat both Germany and Japan, it would require much more for the larger Muslim countries plus China and Russia. Also to be considered is that we fair traded our factories to make a Wall Street Buck.
Why would red-blooded Americans want to join an army where they will be forced to bunk and shower with open homos, and take orders from trannies, but can be court martialed just for not hiding their Christianity under a bushel?
* Chaplains can’t preach from the Bible
* You can get court martialed for displaying your Christian faith, if anyone gets “offended”
I think a lot of people who traditionally might have been attracted to the military are backing off as they see it turned into a gay-friendly, anti-Christian, feminist organization run according to the rules of political correctness.
There. Fixed it.
The military, as it’s being run now, will never get as many able bodied males.
When will these idiots understand that the military is not a social experiment?
No way in blazes would I ever enlist with the kind of homo-centric, anti-Christian military leadership we have now. And that’s not even counting a worthless CoC, who has turned rules of engagement into a pathetic joke.
As long as we have a military (as well as a country) that has become so sick and depraved as to legally and morally equate two homo pervs as the same as a husband-and-wife, count me out.
Why would anyone join today? The military is run by ignorant and incompetent leaders.
The military’s real problem is Obama, Carter and Generals/Admirals who put career over the well being of their service branch and our country.
I suggest a major recruitment drive of trannies in pelosi’s district
Admiral Stansfield Turner, Carter’s head of the CIA wholesale gutting had far reaching consequences.
You forgot “being used to bomb the enemies of ISIS”
